Default Mission To Mars!!!

I know that this movie has been discussed here before, but I just saw this in High Def on Starz!, and Wow. I can't wait for this movie to come out on Blu, what a really cool movie. I bet the PQ/SQ will be stunning

Would like to see it in Blu-ray as well. Kind of a B movie with good special effects.

More than likely if this did come to blu-ray it would look a lot better than it did on tv. I am not saying it did not look good on tv, but normally they look much better when on blu so you would be even happier because you would get a better quality. It would be a Disney film as well and they do good work.

Spoiler alert:

[Show spoiler]My favorite scene is watching Tim Robbin's character die.
I can watch that over and over.

Oops. Sorry. I guess I assumed everyone reading this has seen the movie.

Default Beautiful Film!

This movie is outstanding and has a beautiful and haunting film score by Italian great Ennio Morricone. My favorite scene is when Van Halen's 'Dance the Night Away' is heard in the background and as everyone gathers to that area the music comes into full audio focus and Tim Robbins and his gorgeous wife are dancing without gravity! Totally cool scene and film! Sweet if it makes it to Blu-ray. Hell, I have it on VHS and even that looks damn good. Skins

You're right. I made an unwarranted assumption.

That brings up a question. How does one hide text for spoilers?

Yeah I liked the Van Halen scene but I prefer Red Planet to Mission to Mars. The duds have this one so maybe Warner can show us a little love and send it this way.

it's disney owned

Distributed by Touchstone Pictures, Spyglass Entertainment (some markets)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mission_to_Mars

"Touchstone Pictures is merely a brand and does not exist as a separate company: the two de facto companies behind it are Walt Disney Motion Pictures Group, Inc. and Walt Disney Pictures and Television."
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Touchstone_Pictures

"Spyglass Entertainment is an American film and television production company, Co-founded by Gary Barber and Roger Birnbaum, where they serve as Co-CEO's. Jonathan Glickman serves the current President of Production. Internationally, Buena Vista has released most films made by Spyglass (with exceptions)."

My mistake, I was thinking of Forbidden Planet which Warner gave to the duds and were still waiting for.

Didn't even know it was out in Blu Ray in France! I myself live in The Netherlands, been watching for this movie and Red Planet for a while now to get released on Blu Ray. So today I ordered with Amazon.fr.

Just a caution for some, the title is Region B locked so those in Region A will need a region-free or modded player.

Does the french blu-ray have forced subtitles?
EDIT:
Damn....they're forced (which is a dealbreaker to me):

"Only complaint I will note is that I couldnt find a way to remove the French subtitles when listening to the English Audio track so Im guessing they are forced which is a bummer."

Maybe Mill Creek will release it since they are releasing a slew of Touchstone/Hollywood Picture B titles instead of Disney.

Yeah, its too bad the BRD from France is Region B locked. I may have to upgrade this title too.

If you try to change subtitle or audio options while the disc is playing an "operation has been blocked by disc" message is received. You can change the audio from the pop-up menu but unfortunately there is no subtitle section.

I don't know if this was by design or whether it was a encoding error. However, the subtitles aren't burned into the picture thus is you have a player which would allow you to move the french subtitle completely off the screen (does one even exist; the Oppo only goes to -5) then that should work. Wish players would have an option to completely disregard subtitles which aren't burned into the frame.
