Post Red Planet or Mission to Mars?

I'm for Red Planet all the way! The reason: Val Kilmer and Carrie-Anne Moss! I hope Warner announces it for Blu-ray real soon! Mission to Mars was good for the performances of Gary Sinise and Tim Robbins, but like Paramount's "Deep Impact", it was geared mostly towards drama. Mission to Mars will be a big maybe for Blu-ray, but Red Planet will be a real no-brainer!

I personally didn't care for either film, but Mission to Mars was horrible. Red Planet easily trumps it.

Both are very average in my book. Both had HUGE potential to be great films, but if I had to pick, I'd say

Red Planet

Both are schlockfests, but I'll gladly add them to my BD collection (I love Sci-Fi).

I've never seen RED PLANET, but MISSION TO MARS was just awful.

Same here...not very good movies, but both are deserving of the Blu treatment.

Agree that both were pretty awful, but I'd vote for a turd if it's up against anything with Tim Robbins in it!

Thumbs up

I'm clearly in the minority here but I actually really enjoyed Mission to Mars. I know it's not a perfect film but I'm fascinated with the Cydonia region of Mars and I thought it was cool how they tackled that subject.

I've never seen Red Planet but I've heard it was good and the previous six posts make it sound at least a little interesting.

It's funny that this thread popped up because I was just talking about Mission to Mars not too long ago with a co-worker and I'd definitely pick it up on Blu.

I liked both of them but didn't like the end of Mission to Mars all that much. So, I guess I'll go with Red Planet.

I'd like both on blu-ray though.

I had to select Red Planet. Red Planet was at least somewhat tolerable. Mission to Mars is one of the few movies I have ever started watching and then stopped before it was over. That movie sucked...bad.

Was I alone in wanting them all to die before the credits rolled?

I'd watch this in HD just for the side-of-the-boob shot! Moss is (was) HOT!

I didn't care much for Mission to Mars, but would probably pick up Red Planet. Can I vote for Ghosts of Mars?

Red Planet, the picture should look stunning on blu-ray. I enjoyed the movie. I know I'm in the minority on this one... The graphics will look good on blu-ray...

I really hope they transfer Red Planet onto Blu-ray, loved the film, they made Mars totally believable and the special effects (the robot) were stellar. I own it on DVD and the image transfer is one of the best that format has to offer.
