Default is it worth the money

ok so im looking to upgrade my receiver but i dont know if it will be worth the money. Right now my home theater consists of a jvc rx d202 receiver with dolby digital ex and dts es connected with an optical cable with polk audio rt600i fronts, 4 polk audio M10 surrounds and a energy xl s10 energy sub. I also have a sony bdp-s300 and a 40" sony 1080p lcd. I want to get a sony receiver with dolby true hd and dts mater audion, would it be worth spending the $1200 (ps i know my blu ray player doesnt output in those formats but im either going to wait for a firmware upgrade or get a new player)
any suggestions are appreciated
