Question Toshiba Flat Pannel, any good?

Aside from the red/blu fight, how are Toshiba's flat pannels? A friend is looking at this one:
Toshiba - REGZA 47" 1080p for 1,299.99

buy it, or run away screaming?

They aren't bad, but if you hold out a while and wait for a Toshiba press statement about how good the TV is you could probably get 50% off a few days later.

Default Re Toshiba Lcds

I have owned and started my HDTV with a tube @1080i and then to a Westinghouse @1080P and I am currently looking at at a Toshiba REGZA 42HL167 and I love it. It retails here in Canada for I think 1699 plus taxes. It does 1080P and has all the inputs you could need and I am absolutely amazed and very impressed with its picture quality. I dont know why someone said a Sony projection looks better as projection kind of sucks. There is a reason why you can get the SXRD Sony 60" for like 1200$ its because PROJECTION SUCKS!! But honestly if i were you I would save a few hundred dollars and get the next level up REGZA as it has support for and almost every feature that HDMI currently has to offer. Its the LX177 SERIES I THINK and it has 120htz refresh rate and Deep color support. Which are 2 outstanding features to look for along with the 1080P. Toshiba also has the widest color gamut at I think better than 92% of the color range.

But honestly most people like to see others opinions and reviews when buying a new HDTV LCD/PLASMA but the best thing to do is pick a set that you have actually seen and has the best picture in your own opinion also taking into account what Video materials and/or gaming will be done on the set aswel as the lighting and darkness in the room it will be in.

i hope this has helped you out. But I WOULD NOT buy a projection set no matter what as I could pretty much guarantee that in the end or after 2 weeks you would be very unhappy with the unit , No matter what the brand is.

If you were in the market for a good flat panel TV, I'd recommend Sony, Sammy, Panny, Pioneer, and Sharp all above Toshiba just from personal experience. If you want the best all around flat panels on the market, go for Sony/Sammy LCD or Pioneer Plasma. Right now at Circuit City you can get a newer model high end Sammy LCD for a pretty good price. I'd highly advise pouncing too, after Super Bowl Sunday most sweet deals are goin' bye bye, in the U.S., that is.

Thumbs up Go for it!

The Regza is a good LCD TV even though the company is run by idiots! I would pick it up, that's a great price for $1300.00.

I own the 42" regza and love it! I was looking at the Sammy's and the Sony's but I just could not pass it up at Best buy for 1150.00 managers special 4 months ago. I also picked up a panasonic blu ray player and an onkyo 705 to go with it!!!!! This lcd rocks and the picture is very very good, I have not had any problems with this flat panel so far. It goes on at 7:30 am and goes off at 11pm every day. 1080p and 42 inches for 1150.00 GO FOR IT AND DON'T LOOK BACK!

Ya, I second the Toshiba Regaza, I ahve the 167 moddle, 42" 1080p, it looks amazing. The driving force was the price, I got it for $1200, 5 months ago, which was smoking then.

Still a good deal today. The sony was $1900, the sammy was $1700, and in the store when we hooked up a blu-ray to all 3, they all looked the same to me. so I figured I'd save the money and if something bigger and better comes down the road, I know I didn't spend an arm and a leg for the TV I have now.
