Question Can you change a bulb on flat pannel lcd?

Looking to get a new tv sometime in the next1-2 years and was wondering if flat panel tvs' have the same deal as projection lcd. That being you can just replace the bulb when it dies. Also I'm assuming that the LaserVuetv is a fixed life span also. Any info? Looking to go for a 61"-? in terms of size. No side speakers on display since I've got a HT.

Not that I've heard of. The TV should last for about 20 years at 8 hours of use a day and you should not ever have to replace a bulb.

I work in a repair lab onsite where I work and the Lead Technician has replaced the bulbs in many Flat Screen Computer LCD's. There are a few online sites that sell the bulbs. Find the LCD Flat screen you are interested in and see if you can locate the bulb. I think the prices vary but are cheaper than most Projection Screen TV's. I paid $200 for my Sony replacement lamp.

there are no "bulbs" in a LCD. I think your thinking of LCD projection screens. LCD televisions have backlights, but no bulb.

The "backlight" IS a flourescent bulb. Some newer models are using LED arrays.
