PS3 supposed to make noise when loading a movie? - Blu-ray Forum

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but is the PS3 supposed to make several almost grinding noises when loading a disk? It is dead quite after this initial loading. Does anyone's PS3 load silently? I ask because I am used to my Xbox 360's loading noise.

The PS3 is not supposed to make noises while loading. My Samsung BD-P 1400 makes a very loud noice when loading "The Invasion", but it does not have the problem with any other movie. Does your PS3 make the noise while loading different Blu-ray movies?

Yes the grinding/crunching noise while sucking in a disk is normal.

The PS3 has a different disc loading mechanism that the xbox360 disc tray. The clicking mechanical noises you hear is the PS3 "pulling" the disc into the drive.

If this is what you are explaining, then it is normal.
