Default Hi-Fi Klubben drops HD-DVD

With more than 70 stores the largest high-quality retail chain in Scandinavia has decided to end their support for HD-DVD stand alone players.

Hi-Fi Klubben exclusively sells hardware from respected brands like B&W, Dali, NAD, Denon and Classé.

I'm a long time Audiophile going back to the mid-70s. NAD is one of the better audiophile favorites and they are making inroads into the home theater market too.

Yes, even back then, we were saying Go..NAD..GO!

If they sold that calibre of equiptment, it's interesting that they let a Toshiba in the back door to be sold in the first place.

Sorry to bump the thread, but a link to Hifiklubben themselves (in danish)

"Hi-Fi Klubben satser på Blu-ray"

Basically they are saying that, given the industry reaction from Warners statement at CES, they have discounted the remaining stock of HD-DVD players and focusing on promoting Blu-ray only going forward. Should Toshiba present a significant market push within the next couple of months, they are ready to go back to market the two equally.

My own opinion:
Since Blu-ray sells even better in Europe than it does in the US, primarily because of the PS3, I would not expect it to be significant that Hifiklubben leaves the door open just a little bit towards HD-DVD players.
