Not heard of this until yesterday. Movie looks like a lot of fun and the FX look amazing. Can't wait to see what the 3D is like.

Considering that the visual effects are by Rythm and Hues either during or before their bankruptcy troubles, the visual effects looke quite nice and I freaking love the creature animations! Very creepy looking and they have the movement of the creatures down perfectly

The movie just also looks like a lot of fun. I love me some sword and sorcery and the fact that it's in 3d is making me fangasm more lol !

I love the look of the creature design also. With this and RIPD it looks like a good year for Jeff Bridges in FX heavy 3D movies!

Wikipedia lists it as Jan 2014 release. I hope the 3D is well done.

Yeah, can't wait to check out RIPD 3D. Bridges also in the 3D Tron Legacy.

After blind buying this at best buy, I loved every minute of it. Sure people will say that it's dumb. But here's the deal ,I grew up on Ray Haryhausen movies from way back. All the storielines are the same. Diety gets mad at humans, throws monster after monster at city of humans, capture a girl in distress, find a guy that's unsure of himself, seek guidance from a Gandalf wanna be and have fun with it.

I personally love these movies and I'm not wasting a 60 inch 3d TV on a bunch of boring dramas and chick flicks!

Im not downing the more serious dramas and Oscar worrhy films but not when you can have eye candy for an hour and 40 minutes!

Default seventh son 3D bluray...not released?

Ok, now I'm pissed!!! Why is it that movies that are originally made in 3D, by the time they are released on bluray, we only get the 2D version of the film?!!! I was so looking forward to seeing the special effects in 3D!!! I really don't want to purchase the 2D version and then later find out that it will be released in 3D several months from now!!! This has happened with several movies so far!

Just received the package from amazon. Can't wait to watch it tonight. Found it weird that this copy came before Big Hero 6, which I ordered from .co.uk 2 weeks earlier.

I think I may give this another viewing tonight, I watched it a couple of weeks ago and was somewhat disappointed with the actual picture, it seemed a lot of the scenes were kind of hazy or misty and didn't have that sharpness or clarity, while some other scenes seemed to be overly bright.
I have this release by the way.

Watched it last night on HBO On Demand in 3D. Fun movie to watch and the 3D was very good but I wouldn't watch it again. Glad I didn't purchase the Blu-ray.

I've said it before in this thread but I love the creature design in this and the visual fx are surprisingly very good considering this cost less than 100Mil. If Jeff Bridges wasn't doing a stupid voice I would mark it higher. Great 3D throughout though.

The movie itself was a bit of a letdown to me, could have done alot more with the story and I thought Bridges' role was borderline annoying.

Haven't read this whole thread but has it been mentioned this movie (in 3D at least) has a slightly soft picture? As if a thin layer of softness has been put over it. Noticed this immediately in the theatre but I thought it was just bad projection or something but when I bought the 3D Blu-ray, the picture was also soft. Oh well, at least the transfer is true to the source I guess.

It has a lot of blown out lighting which I think was done in the grading. Especially blown out whites. It creates that soft edge around everything particularly people. This may have been exacerbated during the 3D conversion as that can tend to fuzz up the edges at times.

I also noticed the softness. I thought maybe it was the SBS 3D on HBO but, I have seen other 3D titles on HBO and they look a lot clearer.

I mentioned it over a year ago and its the only thing I dislike, the movie itself I do enjoy, even with bridges character and I have kept it in my collection.

The "Bloom Lighting" as the special effects guys call it, is when the bright light from behind overlaps and softens the edges of whatever it's projected onto. For a 3D film, as you guys have mentioned, it's not a good effect to have, since it weakens the crisp edges that give an object a clear, visible separation from what surrounds it. The same bloom lighting effect was in 300 Rise of an Empire and it really dampens the power of the 3D conversion of that film.

Thankfully it wasn't in large amounts in Seventh Son 3D.
