Default The Revolt of Mamie Stover (1956), directed by Raoul Walsh - July 17, 2018

The Revolt of Mamie Stover (1956) comes to Blu-ray from Twilight Time on July 17, 2018. This will be a limited release of 3000 units.

Quote:
From IMDb....Set in the early '40s, a San Francisco prostitute is run out of town just as the second World War begins to intensify. Mamie settles down in Hawaii, hoping to start a new life. Though her prospects look good when she falls in love with a science-fiction writer who treats her with the respect she deserves, the dawning war and the fallacies of her previous lifestyle complicate their budding romance.
Directed by Raoul Walsh (The Thief of Bagdad, The Roaring Twenties, High Sierra, White Heat, Gun Fury, They Died with Their Boots On, and many more)

Starring

Jane Russell (The Outlaw, Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, The Road to Bali)
Richard Egan (The 300 Spartans, The View from Pompey's Head, A Summer Place, Pollyanna)
Joan Leslie (Yankee Doodle Dandy, High Sierra, Sergeant York, The Hard Way)
Agnes Moorehead (Jane Eyre, The Magnificent Ambersons, Hush...Hush... Sweet Charlotte, Citizen Kane, television series Bewitched)

Music by Hugo Friedhofer

Seeing conflicting info as to which is the go-to audio track here. Which, if either, is the original?

For early CinemaScope films (1953-early 1957) Fox required all films, in-house or from other studios, to have a native four-track stereo mix. For many of these modern presentations, the four track mixes are presented in 5.1 containers for compatibility/easier to decode. I no longer own the film but I do know that titles such as “Violet Saturday” and “Peyton Place” have L, C, R and mono surround in their “5.1” tracks with no LFE.

Surprised there isn't more talk about this wonderful film here. One of Walsh's best.
