Default A Nightmare on Elm Street (Remake 2)

Quote:
Samuel Bayer’s 2010 remake of A Nightmare on Elm Street was nothing short of an abomination, completely missing the opportunity to do something fresh and new with the franchise and instead poorly recreating moments from Wes Craven’s original. Now, we shall pretend it never existed.

The Tracking Board reports tonight that New Line Cinema is currently developing yet another reboot of the Nightmare on Elm Street franchise with David Leslie Johnson (Orphan) attached to write the screenplay. Specific details about Freddy’s return, however, are being kept under wraps.

Toby Emmerich, Walter Hamada, and Dave Neustadter will oversee for New Line.

Your first response to this news may be to question why it’s necessary, but given how poor of a note Freddy went out on back in 2010, I can’t help but be genuinely excited about this one. The way I see it, this is New Line’s chance to redeem themselves and give Freddy the respect he deserves.

We’ll of course report more on this one as we learn it.

They should have just done that the first time they tried to remake it. Haha!

So now we're getting remakes of remakes. Hopefully New Line learned their lesson from the last one. It would be nice if they could get Robert Englund back for one last movie.

Why not just make a proper sequel now? That just sounds much better. Or Freddy vs. Jason 2 already!

I would love for a Freddy vs Jason 2.

This news makes me sick to my stomach. Leave the classic franchises alone, dammit!

Now that the Starz network is making an Evil Dead series, maybe something could be worked out to get Jason, Freddy and Pinhead in there somehow. I would love to see a live version of this, it would be a load of fun for sure!

They are already working on a F13th series. Just no channel yet.

Another? :sigh:

Just continue on with the sequel. This reboot/remake trend is getting out of control. I might be the only one who liked the remake. But seriously just continue on.

Are we going to see a Pixels remake in two years?

They should release another version of the A Nightmare On Elm Street remake on blu ray with all of the stuff they cut out of the trailer.

Or they should announce that they f#cked up on the remake in general and are destroying the original master to the remake and recalling all the discs ever pressed to be destroyed and are going to pretend it never happened.

I know the remake got a lot of hate but I really liked it. I like having a scary Freddy and not a comedic one.

The first film wasn't comedic freddy though, wasn't that what they tried to remake?

Yeah, but all the sequels after that were comedic. I'd rather get another semi-serious Nightmare film.

Can't remember how much if any comedy the first Nightmare had. Been awhile since I've seen it.

Same here. I thought they did that well.

Bit I guess its true what they say. You give people what they want. and they still won't be happy,

Because for years people whined about him being too jokey. and not scary. So they do that. and what do I hear when it came out. That Freddy was too serious, and didn't tell enough jokes.

So I guess that means we'll have to listen to another backstory of Freddy.

That's just like the people who say they wanna see a Freddy prequel. Where basically the person would be Fred Krueger the entire movie. There be no dream sequences. It just be a normal guy going around killing kids, and he be torched at the end.

I think it was just little things like Him cutting his fingers off, and when he wore the face of Tina. And I guess when he stuck his tongue through the phone.

But he wasn't the Freddy who thought of a funny pun every time he killed someone.

To be honest Freddy was always a joker from even the 1st film. He just got more and more humorous. Part 4 and on is where it got extremely cheesy. He was still pretty scary in Part 2.

People didn't dislike the remake because it was too serious, they disliked it because it was bad. The casting was terrible, Jackie switched between his rorshach voice and variations of it for the entire movie. He was about a foot too short, he looked like he had a mental illness with the burns and the plot was about as thin as a wafer. The original film offered something unique and had a damn great atmosphere. It Follows aped it intelligently, this remake did not. It's just crap.
