Same here. I thought they did that well.

Bit I guess its true what they say. You give people what they want. and they still won't be happy,

Because for years people whined about him being too jokey. and not scary. So they do that. and what do I hear when it came out. That Freddy was too serious, and didn't tell enough jokes.

So I guess that means we'll have to listen to another backstory of Freddy.

That's just like the people who say they wanna see a Freddy prequel. Where basically the person would be Fred Krueger the entire movie. There be no dream sequences. It just be a normal guy going around killing kids, and he be torched at the end.

People didn't dislike the remake because it was too serious, they disliked it because it was bad. The casting was terrible, Jackie switched between his rorshach voice and variations of it for the entire movie. He was about a foot too short, he looked like he had a mental illness with the burns and the plot was about as thin as a wafer. The original film offered something unique and had a damn great atmosphere. It Follows aped it intelligently, this remake did not. It's just crap.

Remake of a reboot of a sequel is what Hollywood needs to aim for now.

The 2010 remake of A Nightmare on Elm Street was doomed from the very beginning because Jackie Earle Haley was miscast to play Freddy Krueger, he was too short and the rest of the cast were taller and was looking down at him, which made his portrayal of Freddy Krueger less intimidating, not scary and vulnerable. The movie in general just wasn't good at all.... In real life, anybody can drop Jackie Earle Haley if they wanted to!

At least it's not a sequel to the last remake. That film is utter garbage.

Maybe this time some actual talent will be behind the film.

I agree with all of your other points but how do burns make you look like you have a 'mental' illness? Freudian slip, or is there something I'm missing?

I figured this had to happen sooner or later, and I could see myself becoming excited... I know Robert is done with the role, and surely this new version has to be better than the 2010 abomination, right?

Maybe they could hire Josh Trank to direct the new film. Given the great job he did on the new "Fantastic Four" film, he'd be perfect!

That's not the type of nightmare I was thinking of.

How about respect the character and the other films and not try to rip them off for quick cash by doing another reboot? I don't get it - there are going to be comparisons so unless your new film is really, really good(which is unlikely), it is going to bomb. Why not let this rest for a while and then go back to it? Give it another decade, it will become one of those old movies that people know but maybe haven't watched and you now can update it. Look at True Grit - it was 40 years and people still were complaining about a remake but because enough time had passed, they were able to remake it successfully. Do the same thing here.

Since when has Hollywood "respected" anything it can make money out of ? It remakes what it wants to remake and all we can do is hope for the best. This idea that Hollywood has any sort of artistic integrity when it comes to business is naive to say the least. It's an industry, not an arts collective.

Oh I don't disagree, they just said respect in the blurb. I agree, they only respect it in the marketing of the film but have no problem screwing over the franchise in order to squeeze every last dime out of it. Problem is though, people go to see these films so the studio thinks there is an audience. Look at the reboot - make $115 million on a $35 million dollar budget and general feeling is it was horrible. Really? You couldn't figure that out without seeing the film? It isn't a one-off either: Robocop made $240 million off of a $100-130 million budget and it was bad too. As long as people keep supporting these reboots they will make money and the studios will keep rebooting with crappy films. Don't watch this crap, don't go to see it just to see how bad it is and maybe, just maybe, they will clue in and stop making this crap.

So is your point that you are telling people here not to go and see a film that hasn't been made yet ? What if it's the rare remake that's good ?

Robert Englund is NOT too old to don the makeup again, he's only 58. You don't think his Freddy is scary? Try going to a convention and meeting him and have him do the laugh...it'll be broad day light and tons of people around, yet youll STILL pi$$ yerself.

Robert Englund is 68 years old, almost 70. He was born in 1947. Check out Wikipedia for validation.

The remake was a decent movie, just my opinion.
What I'm expecting from the new remake: it must be really a scary r-rated movie with many shocking moments and stylish kills and a dark vibe.
