Default Compatibility

I have owned the Samsung BD-P1200 and have no experience with any other player. Have other manufacturers had the same compatibility problems that Samsung is having or is this unique to Samsung? I spoke to them and they claim it is the studios not releasing the "keys" to them on time but that seems to be just an excuse - the Samsung player can't even navigate the menus Across the Universe - what keys would that require?

No, Samsung has been the only one that has consistently dropped the ball. All of the other manufacturers have been ready for new releases. I guess it's possible that Samsung is not getting the keys, but since everybody else seems to do their job without a problem, I'm betting it's just Samsung.

If they told me that BS, I'd be recording my conversations with them for quality assurance purposes.

I have a gen 1 Pioneer, gen 1 Sony, 80GB PS3, and a gen 3 Pioneer. I've received nothing but proactive updates for my players. Samsung hasn't kept up and of course they blame the software vendor. Didn't they just choose a new SoC maker?

The interesting thing with the PS3 is that it goes months without being updated yet still manages to play new releases without these magical keys.
