The predator has steel claws and rips his victims to shreds! But who is he? Vincent Price (House of Wax, The Last Man on Earth), stars in this thriller about a down*trodden country estate that becomes the site of a horrific murder. Prolific writer/director Crane Wilbur (He Walked by Night, Crime Wave) helms this feature, with a cast that includes Agnes Moorehead (Bewitched) Gavin Gordon (Murder by Invitation) and in her last film role, Darla Hood of the Our Gang comedies. This gallery of weirdoes is guaranteed to give you the creeps. Which of them is the mysterious killer known as "The Bat?" You'll find out soon enough. But beware - the scream you hear may be your own!

Haven't seen the film in years, but I remember it being a lot of fun. I keep meaning to rewatch it.

Yeah, it's a pretty fun little film. Vincent Price is great as usual.

An added treat is seeing former Our Gang member Darla Hood in the cast.

I saw it back in 1959, I think it was. It scared the crap out of me when I was a kid. I was totally fooled by the identity of the villain, although it's pretty obvious if you're an adult.

I have this Film Detective release, which is a BD-R.

Will this new one be a pressed disc?

As much as I'd like to get The Bat (saw some of it when UK channel Talking Pictures TV showed it a few weeks ago), I'm going to wait for comments from fellow posters here, as well as reviews. There are now around a handful of Film Detective Blu-ray film titles I'd like to get, but comments here about the transfers for some of the titles already released (including A Life at Stake) haven't been overly positive.

Yep, Film Detective started doing pressed discs a few years back with their Special Edition releases.

Just posted this in the old The Bat thread and the Vincent Price thread, completely missed this new thread

Great news, been avoiding the BD-R release for a couple of years now.

If you see it on Dawn of the Discs, it's almost certainly been posted here first

A very enjoyable film I’ve seen a couple times on streaming services I’m recent years. I’d definitely pick up a BD of it.

Same, will be double-dipping for sure. Just bought the first release not to long ago. Didn't do any research prior to buying and was surprised to see it was BD-R when I received it. It's the only one I own.

[Show spoiler]I just assumed it was obviously Vincent Price, and figured "who is the killer in this movie that also has Vincent Price in it" was one of those things that was a mystery at the time but due to his later roles became super obvious. So I was fooled completely.

Doubt they'll do Dementia 13 considering it already has a super cheap Vestron release.
