Thumbs down Which Blu-ray has disappointed you the most?

For me it has to be Bram Stoker's Dracula. The pq wasterrible, all the scenes looked way too soft. The Superbit edition I think was actually better.

There was a long debate about this title in the Insider's Thread. I actually believed the PQ (I believe that is what this thread concerns) was pretty good. For me, I found the PQ in Total Recall to be very poor.

The first Harry Potter. When the scenes are dark, the picture looks HORRIBLE. I initially thought that I had been ripped off because the movie starts on that dark street. I had to take the disc out just to make sure it was a blu-ray.

Thumbs down Robocop

I was so excited to get this film in Blu-ray.

I figured it would look pretty cool.

Instead, it was a pretty poor transfer. The Dirty Dozen was about 10 years older and it still came out looking pretty good. I don't expect every Blu-ray title to look as good as Cars or Fifth Element, but come on. Robocop looks pretty average or below average to me.

We shouldn't have to settle for below average quality like this on Blu-ray.

Movies shot on film will tend to need more work to clean them up and get a good PQ. Sometimes the studios just dont do as much as they should I agree robocop could have been much better

ROBOCOP was an EXTREME b-movie. It had fairly small budget. The PQ you saw was pretty close to what the theatrical looked like. I screened that movie after I built up the print in 1987 when it originally came out. I remember talking to my fellow projectionist about how crappy the image looked on it. Paul Vehoven use cheap film stock for it.

By far, Superman returns. In the theater you could just see how good the PQ was and how it would of made a great transfer but somebody seriously drop the ball on that one.

All of these mentioned above were pretty bad, but my first BIG disappointment for BD was Superman Returns.

You guys obviously haven't checked out Hustle and Flow yet. Now that movie looked horrible on Blu-ray. I can honestly say I've seen many DVD's that looked better then that.

What's really bad is what if one of these is your first experience with HDM? I would probably be returning my player...

300! lol. Sheesh, talk about being excited for something and being in for a big let down. But I made my peace with that - many, many, months ago - after going through the forums. Otherwise...it would have to be...oh, definitely Home of the Brave. The movie and the PQ all disappointed me big-time.

I haven't been truly disappointed with any of the blu-rays I have bought but if I had to pick one in my collection, it would probably be Stir of Echoes, I mean it was okay but I felt it was too soft.

I guess you can only do so much with the source material huh?

Out of the ones I have, I would say Tom Cruise M:i:III. The MPEG2 BD25 left much to be desired.
