Hmm. I wonder what this is getting a stand alone release when they are reissuing the Vincent Price Collection 1 that includes this film.

No mention of this utilizing the recent restoration, which would be unfortunate. I'm expecting StudioCanal to put this out in the UK (hopefully later in the year), so it might be worth seeing what they come up with.

88 minute cut vs 89 minute cut!

The differences?

Precisely so people who already own the collection don't have to buy the whole collection again just to get the longer cut.

Wow what news! I would think this is the new 4k restoration that has recently been completed. It’s surprising that shout is releasing it as I was under the impression all their rights to Price films were lapsing and that’s why the other volume sets were going OOP.

Here’s hoping it’s a great new restoration and fully uncut. You don’t exactly notice the edits until you see the uncut version and then it’s really noticeable that those bits are gone.

One can dream about a full Corman horrors 4k release boxset can’t one? Certain ones have needed new scans for years but Masque especially as it is one of the two more sumptuous UK productions and the photography is so important to the atmosphere.

The rights issue for the Vincent Price intros and outros is the bone of contention, not the films themselves.

Based on a comment by an MGM spokesperson on another forum, I expect that the new 4K restoration of MASQUE will be utilized for the box set reissue and the standalone release of MASQUE.

If this isn't the 4K master, what's the point?

I think this is great news. A beautifully photographed film. I wish some of the others would get this treatment.

I've been literally waiting years for a UK release - managed to resist buying abroad so far!

Yeah, isn't there some sort of rights issue that prevents the home video release of MASQUE in the UK?

I may buy the reissued set (missed out on it years ago-- wasn't seriously collecting movies, other than art and foreign films, at that time), or I may buy this stand-alone release, but either way, I must have this Blu-ray in my collection!

This may be my most prized Vincent Price movie of them all (well, this, and "The Song of Bernadette," which is a very different kind of film, in which he plays a very, very different character!), and I'm so thrilled that it is getting a new release! Please, may it be the 4K remaster!

Not really, just that it's owned by Studiocanal here so a different rights situation.

Studiocanal released a DVD. They do sub-licence occasionally, but usually only to labels to have a larger deal with them. Network do, and now Indicator. I've got a feeling Studiocanal might do their own as they have been on board in a big way releasing 4K restorations on 4K UHD lately and it would be pretty damn amazing if we did get a 4K release of this film!

Concerned that Shout do not trumpet the new 4k restoration. Makes me think it's not. Think I'll cancel my preorder and see what happens...

At long last it's being released in the UK on October 26th with lots of extras, & according to Amazon, a stunning new restoration from Martin Scorsese’s Film Foundation.

So this won't be a 4K restoration that the UK will have next month?! If that's the case, I'm cancelling my pre-order.
