Default Winter of our discontent made glorious summer... but what about next spring?

Quote:
Now is the winter of our discontent
Made glorious summer by this sun of York;
And all the clouds that lour'd upon our house
In the deep bosom of the ocean buried.
Now are our brows bound with victorious wreaths;
Our bruised arms hung up for monuments;
Our stern alarums changed to merry meetings,
Our dreadful marches to delightful measures.
Grim-visaged war hath smooth'd his wrinkled front;
And now, instead of mounting barded steeds
To fright the souls of fearful adversaries,
He capers nimbly in a lady's chamber
To the lascivious pleasing of a lute.
Seriously, after the barrage of bombshell events, and the capitulation, we are going to hit the doldrums:

Warner is not going to release anything good on Blu-ray before the end of May, because they'd have to release it on HD DVD as well.

Paramount and Universal have to rethink their strategies. We don't know if Universal has tested Blu-ray authoring. If they haven't, they'll spend some time with that. Paramount might stay out of it all for a while; they were never too committed in the first place.

Sony and Disney will carry on as usual. Fox might have a panic attack if DRM becomes compromised again.

On the hardware side, what we see is pretty much what we get, except the Denons, and a couple cheaper players (Funai and Sigmatek).

The first few months of last year were boring as well, with very few releases. The first interesting news was in late May, with the release of the Matrix films and the two first PotC.
