Default Do we owe our victory to Netflix?

We were obviously going to win, and probably relatively soon, but it seemed like Netflix really jump started the quick turn of events. Just a few days after their announcement, Walmart decided in favor, and then Samsung, etc...then it was basically over. I'm sure it all might have worked out this way anyway, but for now I'm lovin Netflix...Thanks Netflix!

Bill Hunt stated on his site that he was informed Netflix, BBuy, and WM (I believe) were made aware of Toshiba's plans to most likely drop HD DVD before they made their announcements, and that spurred them to do so. They may have done it to speed up the process.

walmart and best buy had already decided long before. it was the one(warner)-two(netflix)-three(best buy) and then chainsaw in the nuts that was walmart that finished HD DED off.

We owe our victory to Warner. If Warner choses HD DVD, then optical HD is dead.

indeed, the second, third and fourth blows would not have come without the first to start them off.

I belive that we owe our victory to the insiders such as Penton, Max, PaidGeek, etc. We owe our victory to the great bloggers/writers such as WickyWoo, Ben, Iceman, Bill Hunt, etc. We owe our victory to the CE companies that make great Blu-ray products such as Sony, Panasonic, Disney, Fox, Warner, etc. And finally, we owe our victory to the early adoptors who believed that Blu-ray is the right choice for HDM.

P.S. Sorry if I left out anyone.

Yup, we owe this victory to Warner, after that everyone else would simply just follow suit.

We owe it to Warner for the decisive blow. Their timely move to support Blu-ray essentially started the snowball/domino effect and HD-DVD's remaining support fell apart in just over a month. Otherwise this might have gone on for the rest of the year.

Of course if it weren't for dedicated Blu-ray customers who helped Blu-ray outsell HD-DVD consistently, Warner might not have made this move. Well done everyone.

i don't know the answer to your question but i can say from personal experience that in the past month i've up'd my acct to 5-at-a-time and i always get my movies quickly and my queue is up to about 70+ movies with only a few with any kind of wait. mabye its the area you live in? i'm on the east coast near Philly.

I got "In the Valley of Elah" from Netflix on the day it was released. That's happened a couple of times for me but in general most Blus are in a "Long Wait" status.

Elah is a fantastic movie BTW.

I think we owe the victory to our selves. Without us the consumer the format would have gone no where. We were the ones that helped Warner Best Buy and Wal-Mart go Blu. They did it because of consumer demand. So i say thanks to all of you that invested in Blu we all owe this victory to you. (I invested too hehe)

Lol exactly. You can't overcome that combo. A chainsaw to the nuts.... stings more than a whip I'm sure.

We owe our thanks to Jeff Bewkes, CEO of Time Warner.
He started the ball rolling.

We also owe our thanks to THE PS3 EFFECT

We also owe our thanks to each and every consumer who purchased Blu-ray, which made the decision for Time Warner all the more easy to make.

I'd say we owe to the PS3 first then the chain stores.
