Default PS3 hard reset problem

I just moved my PS3 from a 1080p set to a 1080i. When I turn on the PS3, the screen is blank and the set says "not supported mode". I have tried to reset it by holding down the power button for over 3 seconds, but that did not work. Any ideas?

not sure if this will work, go hook it back up to the 1080p, go into display mode, put it back on 720p 1080i max, hook it back up on the 1080i, try that, im guessing

I wish I could, but my 1080p set is at a tech shop getting worked on.

Get the RCA cables & hook it up , that should put you back at 480 then you can set it to 720/1080

I'm pretty sure you touch the ON thingy till it beeps (about 5 seconds) then it will boot up in a compatible display resolution.

Yea what he said. There's technically two steps.

1. Turn off your PS3 by holding down the power button until the green light goes red
2. Hold down the power button again until you hear about 3 beeps and the green light starts flashing

A screen should show up and it should look kinda blurry cuz itll be in 480i/p or something. Then from here just set up your desired resolution.

Hope this helps man,

I'll try that. I have been holding power while it was on to get it to reset. I didn't know you hade to hold it while off.
