Hi all -
With the PS3, there are a dozen or so audio output settings: DD 5.1 DTS 5.1 AAC ...and a bunch of PCM settings... When using audio over HDMI to an Onkyo receiver, I figured I'd just NOT select the DD 5.1/DTS 5.1/AAC settings and select all the PCM settings. The thought here being that the PS3 internally decodes everyting anyway ('cept DTS MA) and sends it all PCM. Is this the correct thing to do? Someone in another thread had talked about the need to have to switch on/off DD5.1 depending on whether games or movies were being played. thanks in advance. |

![]() ![]() You don't want the PS3 to automatically decode DTS ES 6.1 Discrete and Dolby Digital EX audio because it'll fold it down to 5.1 instead of the full 6.1. fuad |
