Not sure, but I have seen many posts on forums where their Wal-Marts have pulled not only the HDDVD's but the Blu-Rays as well. The only thing I can think of is they took them all for the following reasons:

1. To ship the HDDVD's back to Toshiba
AND
2. They are getting ready to redo a Blu-Ray only section or something and are gearing up for the displays.

Wal-Mart did just announce the other week they were going Blu-Ray only by the summer so I think they are going to start hyping up Blu-Ray in the stores. Hopefully anyway.

Last Friday mine had actually increased the shelf space for BD by three columns (all HD releases were on an end-cap, previously there were five or so columns for BD to four columns for HD DVD; on Friday it was eight BD columns and a lone/single HD DVD column).

I'll be going there tomorrow and see if they've changed it (since it makes the most sense to change it on new release day).

I was initially surprised to find the same at my Supercenter. There were only a few titles on the end cap. I found that they moved the Hi-Def section to the last four feet of the new release aisle where they are much more high profile. Maybe your store moved them as well.

Was at mine today- the 3 column endcap is gone. They actually have a full section in the DVD section (with a couple H-DuD's thrown in)

The WM near me has set up a new section for BD, but it is mostly empty with only 10 titles, and about 100 open places. one of the employees said they are getting ready to stock it in the upcoming weeks, but did not know when yet.

hmmmm. Wal-mart, they have 10 blu titles locked behind the glass case and four tubs of 500 dvds for $3 to dig through. Now what was the big deal about them going blu exclusive? They would've followed along with the mainstream anyway. Now Target on the other hand has a much better layout.

I hadn't been in the longest time and I went back and they had maybe 10, and the weird part is they only kept like one of each title on the floor even though they had room for like 15. Alright prices on most of em, 24 for almost all the Lionsgate titles, got RE1 for 18.

I got 3 Wal-Marts in my area. 2 of the wal-marts have an endcap with their Blu-Ray and HD-DVD's, and the 3rd just has like 2 shelfs. They're not very organized, so it's not suprising.

its because of theft

i worked at circuit city, and circuit city uses a camera security system called "data catch" that data catches nothing (there is no security, no loss prevention, nothing) . When blu rays (or anything else for that matter) are stolen, the inventory thinks theyre just mis-placed. Therefore more are never ordered in.

So my local circuit city still has the same 10-12 blu rays theyve had for the past year because nobody wants them, and thats it.

Best buy however usually has around 200
