Default Netflix to Increase Blu-ray inventory...

http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2269884,00.asp

All I can say is "it's about freaking time!"

I have so many BR movies in queue that say "Very Long Wait" that it's not even funny. I wonder when they will increase their inventory and how long it will take for the consumer to get some relief from their backlog.

P.S. To Netflix... being format "agnostic" may have been the politically correct thing to do but it screwed your customers who have waited 3-4 months for most Blu Ray titles. On the positive side, it probably forced a lot of people to just go out and buy the BR titles instead of waiting 3-4 months so they may have helped BR win the war in the end.

After reading the full source article here: http://www.gearlog.com/2008/02/netfl...ase_bluray.php , I have to say that I am still not convinced going back to Netflix is the answer. The wording doesn't create a sense of significant increase in Blu-Ray to me.

In light of recent announcements, however, Blu-Ray devotees can expect an increased availability of their chosen format. "We have a certain amount allocated for acquiring discs, and when we're not requiring one, we can put that amount toward acquiring the other. We should be requiring more of the Blu-Ray titles."
I'll stay with Blockbuster until I have good reason to go back to Netflix.

Actually, all my VLW's--six of them--have since disappeared into Short Waits, and are now available.

On the upside, I also finally got to see Pirates 3 on Blu for the first time since it came out in December. (And okay, now I know why it vanished out of theaters so quickly...Yeesh!)

Hopefully this will help . . . I've been pretty disappointed with Netflix ever since I stopped buying/renting DVDs. I was actually going to cancel this month . . . here's hoping.

I already cancelled this month. I was tired of paying to wait. I'll resubscribe when I hear that they've pulled it back together.

yeah my queue has been moving fast this past few weeks.
I think it's getting better and with bluray gaining momentum and hopefully becoming mainstream, the wait time will get a lot better.

Guys here's a tip, cancel your subscription then renew right before the end of your month period ends. They give returning/new members higher priority.

And do this every couple of months? I have to admit, it was really good for the first month or two then I started getting nothing.

Why not every month? It's not that big of a deal, just cancel the membership and then renew it right after. But do it on the last day of your month period so you pay the same amount as if they were just going to re bill you for the next month.

Technically you could plan it so you have your 3 movies and 7 days to watch them, then you are only paying every month and 7 days. Right?

I've been thinking of rejoining Netflix. I also heard they may raise plans because of Blu-ray. Any news to back this up?
