Default PS3: 40GB vs. 60GB vs. 80GB

After doing a lot of research, I have decided to get a PS3 to use as a Blu-Ray player. Only a Blu-Ray Player. I have no intention of ever buying any games.

Does it matter which one I get if I'm only getting it for the Blu-Ray? Most people seem to be getting 40GB. Is that just because it's the cheapest? Would an 80GB give me better video/audio quality or anything?

Thanks!

The differences in the systems only affect games. If you are only going to watch Blu-rays, any of them will be fine and the 40GB would be best since it's cheapest.

If you ever want to listen to SACD albums you can't do it on the 40 and I am unsure if you can do so on the 60. I have the 80 and while I don't use it to play games (though my son does) the SACD feature makes it a bonus! Give SACD albums a listen.

The 80 gb has a few features not present on the 40 gb version. It also has greater sound output. I initally got the 40 myself but changed it for the 80 gb model for the extra features - games were not a consideration... Funny thing tho, I got addicted to golf on the PS-3 after seeing it at a friend's place...

IMO, 40G PS3 is the best value for money for blu-ray.

It has less electronics. due to lack of backward compatibility for PS2 games, hence less heat, less power and less noise (fan runs slower). I consider this as a bonus although others consider this as a disadvantage. (We use PS2 for PS2 games)

As previously mentioned 40G cannot play SACD and also few (minor) missing options, that doesn't impact on blu-ray playback.
