why? They're both great. The only reason i favored 80 over 60 besides memory which is upgradeable is because I don't have any ps2 games to playback

Not at all you should be glad to have the 60GB as it has most features and is backwards compatible. You can always upgrade the HD very cheap. Sony did a bad job with getting rid of all the features and backwards compatibility. If you want a Mercedes don't expect to get one for the price of a Dodge, you get what you pay for.

Does it matter? If you can get a 60G for a good price, do it. If you cant get a 60G its no big deal.

Myself? I have a 240G HD for my 60G just collecting dust because I am not close to filling up the space. The 60G is better in terms of what you get (hardware backwards compatibility etc), but I have not played a PS2 game for a long long time.

Woop.

Is the 80gb backwards compatable with a high percentage of ps1 and ps2 games?

Yes, it's roughly 80% - 90% PS2 BC. PS1 is 100% IIRC.

Think yourselves lucky. Here in the UK we've only got one choice. And its 40G...

I'm sure there's still some new 60's if you look hard enough.

I have the 60GB also. I purposely bought it instead of the 80GB because of the hardware-based backwards compatibility. However, I've only used that feature once!

i just got my 60 gig preferred over the 80 due to its full backwards capability with both the ps2 and ps1. i chose the player primarily as a gaming console instead of a blu-ray player and am quite satisfied with it.

as mentioned as well, you can always upgrade the hard drive later on. for now, im still content with my 60 gig. until i figure out how to play divx files on it, its a great media player too.

The 60 Gig is still the best. They also rearranged the motherboard with the new ones, I'm sure to make it more cost effective.

If your worried about memory do what I'm doing, buy the 500 gig WD My Book. All you have to do is plug it in after formatting.

And it's glossy/piano black just like the PS3

Very ridiculous statement. Dozens of manufacturers are using the DLP technology. And the picture is so bright my eyes water when gaming.

60 gigs all the way...i mean those who own the 80gigs probably wont even use more than 35gigs for storage...even if u download demos/movies....if u like a demo so bad that u keep in on ur system...u would most likly buy the game and delete the demo.....therefore freein up space...60 is it,,,i call mine 60 cent

.............................
plus i stream from my computer for music
