Red face 20 Gigs is not enough space

I got my 60 Gig Ps3 on or around Dec 4. Since then I've installed the three games I boungt - Resistance, Tony Hawk and Ridge Racer. I've also gotten Hot Shots for the PSP, Gran Turismo, the Demo for Cash Guns Chaos and a movie trailer for testing settings on my TV. I've also backed-up my wifes MP3s off of her walkman (2 Gig) and ripped my spider-man DVD. (The PS3 needs spider-man on it - just look at the font!)

Anyway the point of all this is that I have 37 gigs of free space left. I may be throwing too much stuff on here because I love the system too much, but what about the 20 gig owners? Are they going to run out of space quickly?

I guess its a great worry to have that this system can do so much that you just want to stick everything you can on it.

I have the same games among others and a 60 gig PS3. My question is why do you need to install those games in your PS3 hard drive when you can play them directly from the blu-ray disc? As for me I use the hard drive for downloadable games, demos and trailers only. As well, your PS3 uses the hard drive among other functions to retain statistics about the games that you play.

Let me know if the games performance is better in the hard drive than the blu-ray disc that they came with. Regardless, the original blu-ray disc is still needed even if the games is installed in the hard drive!

I know that on ridge racer the load times are significantly faster. I don't recall having a choice on the other two games. I think resistance and tony hawk automatically install to the HD.

Well you can always upgrade to bigger drives. Cool thing is you can just get any off the shelf SATA 2.5" drives to do it so long as the cache is 8MB or higher.

What I want to know is if you can do a patch up using an external SATA 3.5" drive using an eSATA cable. So far not a lot of people have done this. This will potentially increase the HDD to 320GB or more.

I would like to know about the 3.5 as well. And what is the largest capacity 2.5 compatible hd on the market?
Also, I have figured out that the ridge racer game data is the HD pig. It takes up 4992 MB!
