Default LG Combi drive keeping HD DUD alive

Sorry if already posted..

http://www.electronista.com/articles...5.6801m.vista/

Seems to be a lot of money needlessly spent for an obsolete format..

Like it will do anything. Plus it as probably developed before the war ended so they just kept it in for the small amount of people who still have hd dvds.

exactly. These companies out there aren't carrying grudges. this is a smart business move, nothing more. Helps their image and as Wicky said they're so similar it's smart AND cheap to support both. They didn't go out and kick your dog in the teeth or anything.

They may need pay toshiba some $$ to put HDDVD logo on their products.

Because it is just a drive to read raw data, no decode, so they don't need to pay full license to HDDVD I think.
