Default firmware update + using a CD

hey guys, i dont have a "large capacity" USB (it is only 120MB) and the newest update 2.30 is 124MB...so thats out, i cant use the internet because i dont have wireless and the ps3 is too far from the computer so i want to write it to a disc

my question is how do i do this? do i still have to make those folders titles "PS3" and "UPDATE"? If so, how? All i know how to do is save the update to my computer and copy it to the disc

Any help is appreciated, thanks.

(its a CD-R thats why im asking first so i dont waste a CD )

Take the PS3 where the computer is. Thats what my buddy does. He just goes to his computer room and updates then puts it back.

In Windows can't you just open the blank CD-R and create the folders like you would any other media, it virtualises them and whatever you drag across before you actually confirm to start writing anything.

Lol, you should just get a 1 gig flash drive. They're like 10 bucks now, and it would save you a lot of time

or for 30 bucks you could get a nice chrome piano black 2gb sony thumb drive.

Anyway back to subject, try the cdr and see if that works, make sure to create the necessary folders.

Im assuming nothing will have changed...

The other more permant solution is either simpler, have you thought about buying a router and running a second cord to the ps3?
