Tonight (April 19, 2008) at 9:45PM ET on HBO, Super Middleweight Champion from Wales, Joe Calzaghe, challenges Lt. Heavyweight Bernard Hopkins at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas, NV. Ring Magazine, as well as many fans & writers, view these two as the top fighter in their respective division.
I'm a big boxing fan, so of course I'll be watching. I was wondering if any of you guys (and gals) will be tuning in? This is officially a Light Heavyweight fight, with both fighters weighing in at 173 pounds, two pounds under the 175 pound limit. Calzaghe tends to have a tremendously high work rate, often utilizing his speed to throw a high volume of punches, whereas Hopkins is much more economical with his punches. I can see a few different scenarios playing out in this fight. How about you guys - any thoughts? ![]() ![]() ![]() Last edited by MJM; 04-19-2008 at 05:21 PM. |

Calzaghe all the way, did you see him demolish Jeff Lacey? He landed over 1000 punches!
Hopkins should have retired for good already, he's got more to lose. I can't watch it on tv, but am thinking about signing up for the setanta broadband option, or I'll just listen on the radio at 3am!! Or.... I could just wake up in the morning and hear the result then watch a repeat next week? I'd love to see it though |

9:30pm BABY! Happy B-Day to me!
![]() Been watching the replays on UFC Wired. GSP manhandeled Hughes...but Serra smacked down GSP. But one thing ive learned about GSP over the years is he learns from mistakes and only gets better. The Hopkins fight looks like a good one too. Although I don't know much about Calzaghe. |

and Hopkins did fight dirty but lost on points! woo hoo!
Hmm, the same ref that spoiled Hatton's attempts at fighting up close appeared to let Hopkins get away with a few dirty moves - coincidence? Anyway, bring on Jones Jr! |
