How do I upconvert SD on my PS3 - Blu-ray Forum

Do I need to make changes to my settings to upconvert a SD DVD? IF so how, or do I just place the movie in and watch. Thanks.

look in system settings - BD/DVD settings

make sure you have the latest firmware update because upconvert was added later on one of those updates so the latest firmware update should cover that one. Plus you need HDMI cable and that goes for any upconverters out there. Then go to BD/DVD setting and go to DVD upscaler and set to normal.

How does the PS3 upscaling compare to dedicated upscaling DVD players such OPPOs? There are a few titles in my DVD collection that I won't be upgrading to Blu, so I want to get the best I can out of them, but don't want to spend an arm and a leg to do so.

Haven't seen one of those Oppo player's in action yet but I heard they are quite good. I think the PS3 does a great job of upscaling from what I have seen compared to other standalones.
