Default There is more to life than movies

I don't understand why my son has posted here, I have forbade him to come here again, this is not what somebody should be doing, it is sickening. you people need to understand that there is more to life than movies, and blu-rays. next time you spend all day wondering about what movies to watch, or what blu-ray to buy or what is coming out, then think instead, of what you're hiding from.

there is more to life than movies, TV's, entertainment. there are things more important, such as studying, god, family, love, government, your parents, your spouse, your children, your community, your health, you name it. movies are fine, but something to do maybe once a week, or once a month when you have nothing else to do.

Instead of hiding inside, watching movies all day or looking to buy new movies constantly, you need to look inward and work on your relationship with yourself, and god. once you do that, you will see that this phase of hiding in the basement with movies, is just a phase, and there are so many more possibilities in life than what you are exploring.

I have a family, a job and more than enough time to enjoy my movies. How are you going to tell someone else how to live their life and that it is not Godly? Are you Godly to be telling us how our lives are meaningless cause we enjoy movies? Grow up Dad before you completely lose your son to your own harsh ravings!!!

I agree. There is nothing wrong with taking an interest in movies and technology. Some people read books, collect stamps, play video games, go fishing, etc. It's just a hobby, sure there is more to life than movies, but there is nothing wrong with enjoying movies and watching movies. So...yeah...I don't get the rant from the OP.

Default WOW dude are you for real????

Your post is ludicrous. I mean if what we do is so pointless why waste your time posting here. I personally am a Republican, a Christian and I volunteer in the church nursery. This is the type of crap that gives people of my faith a bad name. I also have a BA and a successful career. So what if my girlfriend and I happen to enjoy watching movies in HD together? Seriously man instead of critisizing people you don't even know, focus on your own life.

BTW: we are watching spider man on BF finally and the PQ and AQ are amazing.

I agree that there's a lot more to life, but just because we post on this forum doesn't mean that we don't do anything else with our lives.... lol... it sounds like you have issues with your son and you need to spend more time communicating with him and guiding him rather than blaming us on this forum for his disinterest in studies, work, god... I work, just got married, travel around the world (when i can afford it), read books, have a great family and have a good relationship with my parents. At the same time I love technology and movies.... it's better to have hobbies and interests than not to... sounds like you need something to get interested in... and I'm not talking about God... btw basements are optimal environments for home theaters (nothing to do with hiding)... get a clue man and give your son a hug once and a while....

p.s. i can't sleep right now, that's why i'm wasting my time with this response.... also do me one thing.. pull out one of your sons blu-rays, watch it on a 1080p Plasma and turn up the 7.1 surround and tell me if it doesn't make you feel like you're in heaven

This is insane for a father to get in the way of something his son enjoys. I mean think of all the other things the son could be getting into girls, drugs, gangs, etc. So what if the son likes movies. We all have our own interests and it saddens me that this father cannot take an interest in something his son likes. My father for example does not play golf, but it did not stop him from encouraging me to play and following me around the country to many tournaments. It was a father's love for his son that led my dad to do that for me.

This site is a wonderful place to share blu-ray news and insights. I don't think i could have built my modest collection of BD's without the help of all the discounts and knowledge I receive from this site. I also know how to set up a pretty decent home theater with the right receiver and speakers (opinions will always differ on this). The one thing I do like the most about this site is that is stays on topic. There is the occasional reference to XXX content or religion, but it has never taken away from the rest of the site. Mods are good to keep these topic in the right sections so they dont come back to the front page too often.

I would love to ask you sir the father of this child, why are you not willing to support something that your son enjoys. Like most things in life when you take to something that you really enjoy the beginning is when you spend the most time at it and then you slowly learn to manage your time. I'm sure your son will not be as frequent a visitor to the site, say one month from now, but in the meantime enjoy this with him. If anyone remembers Blu_Beard, he had like 2000 posts in a month or something, perhaps this is who we are talking about, but I don't think there is any way he would be able to continue that trend. For me, I have visited the site for nearly two years and mostly I just check it for news and hot deals. In the beginning I was like a hawk at the site, but I quickly learned most posts are repeats and not worth putting my two cents in like I'm doing here. If you spoke to a pastor on this topic I seriously doubt they will tell you anything is wrong with coming to a fan web site like blu-ray.com unless this becomes an obsession and your child is putting blu-ray before God, but it is you sir as the parent who should be teaching your child these things.

Is he for real?

If so, then gee whiz. I don't spend my whole day watching movies or even thinking about them. In fact, the only time I get to watch movies on Blu-ray is mostly on the weekends. A couple of Blu-ray movies if I'm lucky.

I have a life. No need for your advice.
