It's a receiver (AVR) so it'll power your speakers, convert signals, and even get AM/FM..... it's NOT a pre-amp, and has no outs, so if you're looking for something that can be upgraded in the future (i.e. adding a mono-tube amp) it IS NOT capable of that.

Basically plug in, connect Blu-Ray, Connect Speakers, Press Play.

If that's what you're looking for, it's a good value for HDMI capable receivers.

The Silver one is Silver.... the black one is not silver

Seriously though... no... Black components tend to sell better than silver for whatever reason, so I'm guessing they just have more Silver than Black, thus the price difference. They're completely the same on the inside

just pick up a couple of movies with the extra $40, and you'll have something to look at instead of the color of the receiver

It does have 2-channel outs for Zone2.
