I Finally Upgraded My System

After months of saving, and the sale of most of my DVD collection, I finally upgraded my Home Theatre.

Firstly I bought a Yamaha RX-V 661 Receiver. The RX-V 663 has just been released here in New Zealand, so the 661 is now at half price. I also traded my Yamaha RX-V 540. We are probably still paying what you guys in the States payed when it was first released, but to me it was a great deal.

This receiver pairs up really well with my PS3, and with the PS3 now decoding all of the HD surround sound codecs it is an affordable way to get into HD sound.

Then I bought

Paradigm Monitor 7 V5 Floorstanding Front Speakers
Paradigm CC290 Monitor Center Speaker
Paradigm Cinema 90 Dipole Side Speakers
Paradigm Cinema ADP Rear Speakers
Kept my JBL 10" Subwoofer for now, until I can afford a better one.

Traded my AR M5 Front Speakers, AR "The Edge" rear speakers and JBL SC305Centre Speaker.

I know its not a top of the line system, but it certainly will keep me happy for a few years.

I watched 3:10 TO YUMA in PCM 7.1. What a treat! I can't believe I waited so long to upgrade.

Anyone know which other BD's are in 7.1 surround sound? I have Hairspray and Rush Hour 3.

Congrats!!!!! I'm about to complete an upgrade aswell- it has me very excited. I'm purchasing an Onkyo TX-SR606 when released along with Definitive Technology speakers all around... Can't Wait!!!

You're M5's are from the Holographic series if I'm not mistaken. Those are considered classic now. I would have kept them and used them in another system. However moving to the Paradigms was an upgrade. Enjoy.

Had to make them smaller, so a definite learning curve, but I was allowed to upload 5 file attachments.
