for roughly the same price you could get this ONKYO HTIB and from experience (at work) the onkyo HTIBs are some of the best

personally id save up a little bit more for an HDMI receiver that will porcess lossless audio...but if you just want a sound system for now, then the Onkyo 800 mentioned above is nice for the price. (if you can find one in stock, its been discontinued)

Default need info from someone with audio knowledge

i have a 1080p tv and a ps3 so now to complete the set i need a home theatre system. I only have a budget of 400 max and dont know what i am really looking for feature wise. The two i kind of narrowed it downt to is the Sony Hts-s2000 (3 hdmi inputs) and the Onkyo HT-S3100 (because people tell me onkyo is very good) (optical input no HDMI)
so i am lost someone please help me

If you're looking at spending just $400, you're going to have to make some sacrafices, so buying it all "Right Now" isn't going to be feasible.

I'd get a Marantz SR4001 from Accessories4less refurbed for $250, and that leaves $150 to get a pair of Polk floor-standers (not sure the model, but they apparently are always on sale for $50 a pop) and get the matching center.... should hit right around your $400 budget, and you can get a sub/rears/surrounds etc... somewhere down the line.

Yup, sounds like Beta Man has a good plan there. That's what I did except I didn't even get the center when I started.

I would just wait till you have more cash to spend, I hear the Klipsch older models are out the door for the new ones. If you start to cheap you wont be happy and end up spending more in the long run, I have the complete Klipsch set up and it ran me about 2,000 buying fro various places like E-bay, Craigslist, and Best Buy.

Default Need help with audio. i am an idiot

i know everyone here hates HTIB, Unfortunatly i have decided to get one against my better judgment. I thought i was sure i wanted to get the
Sony Ht-S2000(399.99) but today i saw a Sony Ht-S2300 (399.99). I am not knowledgable enought to distinguish a difference between the two of them. I was planning on buying it today but thought i should ask what the differences are and if i am missing something big. If anyone could tell me some differences i would be greatful. Thank You!

Got a link to em?

Honestly man get an Onkyo 606 for $299 refurb or maybe find a good sale and buy some used/cheaper speakers and upgrade slowly. You will be so much happier in the end.
