Default Best Buy to sell Polk Audio, dropping JBL?

Sorry if this has already been posted. I was looking @ BB.com today and noticed Polk Audio speakers are coming soon. I also noticed all the JBL speakers are listed as "available online only." Are they phasing-out JBL in favor of Polk? Any employees out there who can shed some light on this? Also, only 2 HK receivers listed. As JBL and HK are both Harman companies, does this mean HK will also be going away from BB?

Any help would be great!

It certainly appears so, since many of the JBL products that BB carried just a month or so ago is no longer on their website.

That is my understanding of the situation. I had a nice chat with the president of Polk Audio the other day. He was understandably a bit tight lipped on the roll out but Best Buy will be phasing in a whole bunch of Polk products. None of their higher end stuff and a lot of their accessory types of products. The I-sonic and the Surround bar will get a lot of visibility. I don't believe they will be carrying any in-ceiling or in-wall stuff but that could change.

It's a pretty big deal for Polk, who was already the third largest speaker company in the world.

my guess with the financial problems of Circuit City, Polk was forced to look for another mainstream retailer. CC has been losing some product lines because of slow cash flow issues.

Don't be surprised if CC starts closing stores again (they did that a few years ago).

Thanks for the info! It's too bad, cuz I always liked JBL speakers. Polk appears to make a solid speaker though. When I worked @ BB I would push people towards JBLs, but that was their best offering at the time. I'm sure that Klipsch has far surpassed JBL in terms of sales @ BB. It'd be nice if BB would offer Reference Series Klipsch and Def Tech outside of their Magnolia stores.

Well, then again, the key word in your statement is "I think."

Is that worldwide or just in the US? CES, NPD or someone should publish a definitive list. Does anyone know where to find it?

Oh, and we shouldn't get too carried away with the numbers, because quantity doesn't equal quality.

Very true. Then again if this is based on just Speaker sales there is no telling who is # 1, it could be Sony!

Would be great if it was possible to order them for international shipment.

Alas we have to pay $2500 for a pair of Polks here which cost about $1000 in the states.

Screw us over anymore?
