Default Polk vs Bose vs JBL vs Infinity

Well for the very first time I decided to compare speakers with my new found interest in the world of HD Audio. I went over to Frys and went into one of their audio rooms and tried out the different speakers on the receiver I just got. The first set I heard was Bose and was kind of shocked at how good they sounded...but then I hit the button over to Polk speakers and

The Bose speakers turned from sounding good to sounding worse than the speakers on my television in comparison. Next I tried the JBL and the Infinity speakers and IHMO, they didn't even touch the Polk for clarity and crispness yet priced at almost the same price. I don't remember the models but they looked the same size and amount of speakers.

If that is how good those speakers sound, then I'm in for a big thrill ride this Tuesday when my new Polks come in. I'm going from a Onkyo home theater in a box to outright full HD Audio!

I use to be one of those members here on Blu-Ray.com that trashed HD Audio and kept saying what is the purpose! So when Speed Racer came out with no losless Audio, I just sat back and laughed at everyone crying about it. But now that I have "opened" my ears, WOW . I picked up the Sony receiver that is in my sig and that made a big difference with my Onkyo speakers but now that I tried out the Polks at Frys, I feel like someone threw a blanket over my speakers to muffle them.

Thanks blu-ray members for rocking my home theater world!

I'd say, if you're looking at the same price range of speakers, I would say Polk, Infinity, JBL, (big ol blank space here), Bose. Don't buy yourself Bose. Stick with Polk or Infinity. I'm a big lover of Polk and what they do at the entry level - their TSi and RTi A line are great speakers.

what model line of polk you gettin???..

the Tsi line is great, some Try say they are replacement for the old series that Polk stopped making, but these are most likey above and beyond better then it...They use to be priced at 1k a pair, they're cheaper now and i am happy with them, sound is crisp, bass is clear and clean,3D sound imaging is pefect, not boxy sounding....theres a part in sin city where the guy drops his gun on the ground and it really sounds like a pistol slided across your room...haha.

for right now with my budget I'm going with the Monitor 50s for the front and a CS2 center speaker

for the rear speakers I'm thinking about getting the Monitor 30s unless y'all have something better in mind that doesn't break the bank

That is false, they are just a replacement for the Monitor line. The only difference is aesthetics.

That would be like saying the Rti A line is better than the RTi line. That said, they are great speakers!

You are comparing two different speakers in the product lines. This is a better comparison...

Polk Monitor 70

Equipped with four 6.5-inch bi-laminate composite dynamic-balance drivers
Equipped with one 1-inch silk polymer-composite dynamic-balance dome tweeter

Polk TSi 500

Equipped with 1-inch silk/polymer composite Dynamic Balance dome tweeter
Equipped with four 6.5-inch diameter bi-laminate organic fiber cone woofers

HMMMM. See how much you can spend then buy what ever YOUR EARS like.
Its really that easy. Other opinions do not matter when it comes to audio. It's your taste that matters. Unless of course you are looking for validation.

man, I finished setting up my speakers tonight and decided to take Eleanor for a spin and

When she first cranks up, the entire house shakes and when she screams

I have a new respect for Losless audio, what a crazy difference in every little detail you can hear. Listening to the motor roar, the tires spinning, the objects flying by the camera...I'm not going to the movie theatres anymore, what a waste of money. I haven't been a theater yet (besides IMAX) that can touch the SQ and PQ that even my basic home theater can match. Well I might go see the new STAR TREK, but after that I'm just going to wait a few months for the movie to come out to Blu-Ray and enjoy the movie the way it was meant to be seen!

I've had my bose speakers (Acoustimas 6) for well over 10 years now and am still loving them. Granted they may not be as good as polk but they sound crystal clear with no distortion. Not to mention how small 4" they are and output massive sound.

It's only that easy if a store lets you sit down an audition speakers.
Bose will not let you do that, hence opinions are very important. They allow you to know that the speakers are set up specifically away from other speakers with surround material designed to wow people who haven't heard surround before.

Next time you're at a Bose dealer, ask them if you can compare the Bose speakers with Polk speakers on the same receiver, you know...audition them. See how far you get.
