Default Sony adds YouTube upload support to PS3 SDK!

Sony adds YouTube upload support to SDK (Detailed JP Article)

Quote:
Sony Computer Entertainment has added support for the YouTube API to the PS3 SDK.

According to Japanese website ITmedia, the experiment is being supported globally and is designed to let developers easily integrate YouTube uploading into games made for the system, helping developers onto Sony's user-generated content bandwagon.

The functionality, which is being debuted in the free Mainichi Issho daily news and entertainment service, will allow uploads of user-created movies to YouTube directly within the game - making the PS3 the first games console to have official support for YouTube, according to Sony.

Fantastic!

You can also save the video directly to the XMB Video list in Mainichi Issyo.

I always believed that the PS3 would get something to allow users to upload onto YouTube. I'm hoping in another update, you can upload movies that have been recorded from the Eyecreate feature.

Wow... what a FANTASTIC idea! I have never submitted video to YouTube, mainly because I wish to stay anonymous. For that reason I keep my videos protected through Facebook (only friends can see them). However, with some of the stuff that I have witnessed occur in video games that would probably never happen again, it will be great to share those occurrences with the world.

Apparently it was available as early as 2.20 but it may have improved since then.

I read somewhere that somebody noticed a significant drop in Guitar Hero lag as well.

This right here is a peek into the future of the console experience.

Uploading of user-generated content including full-motion video and integration with big-time websites previously accessible only via PC.

Consoles really are no longer strictly disc-players and online games machines. The hype is slowly coming true: PS3 is gradually becoming a complete multimedia machine, incorporating major online interactive functions.

It's funny (and probably no accident) that at the same time MS is chipping away at the console games market, Sony is making inroads into traditional PC territory.
