Default Arcsoft and Nvidia adds 3D support without needing a new display

http://www.arcsoft.com/en-us/press_detail.asp?prID=427

TMT3 adds 3D support from your existing qualified equipment (video card) and software -just add the Shutter glasses and you are good to go with 3D. I don't think my PC will ever leave my system now!

This is great prerich. I really like this concept. There's just one problem here and I've been saying this for a while to many HTPC and computer enthusiasts. The Nvidia glasses are too darn expensive. I go to Fry's about once a week and they have that display up all the time with the Nvidia glasses. Those glasses are still expensive at present. They will eventually come down, but I wonder willl Arcsoft support other 3D glasses like the coolest 3D glasses I used at the Arclight in Sherman Oaks during the midnight showing of Avatar. They were Dolby Digital Studio glasses wich were the best I've ever witnessed. I wear glasses and they fit quite well right over them. I've tested many 3d glasses and nothing came closer to the Dolby's experience. Lastly, I wonder if Sony will be selling those Oakley like 3D glasses their going to bundle with their new line of 3D Bravia TV's to
debut later this year. Peace...

Oh, here are the glasses people. They are sick.

Nvidia glasses are pricey - but not as pricey as a new TV and a new BD player!!! Kits can be had on Ebay for $90.00 and glasses for $40.00.

I'm pretty sure you still need a 3d-capable display for Nvidia's 3d thing. An old CRT capable of 120hz refresh might do the trick but that's not exactly a cinematic experience.

Have you read the article? The only needed components are a qualified Nvidia GPU, Arcsoft TMT3, and the Nvidia shutter glasses - that's it! This is being done in software via Arcsoft - I have always stated that one of the advantages of using a PC is getting in at a lower cost! When I went HD (via HD-DVD) I did it via PC because it was a low cost option and if I didn't like it - what the hey. Then I went Purple - I loved BD and I caught a great deal on a player for my PC. I've had that player for years and I have had not laser problems or anything with it - best move I've made! After that I bought my first standalone, but my PC has remained my "test platform" for new technology - because they always find a way to do it without having to buy a ton of new gear - it is also my main player. The video card is the determining factor in a PC - and if the software is written for it - call it done! The most realistic 3D that I've seen - I was wearing Nvidia shutter glasses at a place called Technology for Tommorw. This was before BD or HD-DVD! It was convincing, colors were nice and the image was sharp - I actually tried to touch it!!! Oh and by the way - if you have a 106 inch projector - you can get a cinematic experience - no special monitors were needed ! As a matter of fact, my current PC has everything I need - just need the glasses kit!

And Nvidia's page for their 3D technology says you need a 3d display. Unless you like anaglyph, that is. So who do I believe, the company actually writing the GPU drivers or some press release? http://www.nvidia.com/object/3D_Vision_Overview.html

I mean, there's nothing stopping you from using shutter glasses with a 60hz display (unless nvidia doesn't want you to), but the flicker would be maddening.

well if arcsoft can pull it off, and my guess is they just might, it would be awesome indeed!
anxiously waiting for more info on this.
