Hard Copies will always be the way to go movie wise. Yeah people will watch on cable, but will also buy on BD and DVD

This will be of no consequence to hard disk sales of DVD or BD.

Studios Won't Go Along With This Idea And Solely This Idea. They May Do It And Still Do DVD And BD(Movies On XBox Live For Example) But They Would Lose A Ton Of Money If They Promoted This Idea Alone. Suicide.

The whole anti copying encryption part is what I don't like about it. If you wanted to watch it again in a month, and it wasn't still on VOD you would have to purchase it. The VOD I have for my cable system doesn't keep them that long.

Blu ray has better PQ then broadcast or cable. I don't think I will be trading down to a bit starved picture any time soon.

It's amazing that for some, the act of stopping in the video rental store and browsing, looking at covers, reading backs, is all part of the experience. I work with people who will not use Netflix, even though economically it makes far more sense for them, because of this reason.

True - the hardcopy will always have better AQ and PQ. I personally like the idea mentioned in the article as a nice supplement, just like renting.

Depends...if I can watch it free on HD on a non-premium channel, I would do this rather than buy it to own. For example, I saw the previews for a movie called "Closing Escrow" that I was interested in getting on Blu Ray (when it was released), and then HDNet showed it in HD for free. I DVR'ed it, watched it, and now there is one less Blu Ray--or DVD--that I will own. I'll never watch it again.

If it was a movie I wanted to own (Pirates, Potter, Patton, etc) then a digital copy would not be the method I would own it in.

And for a download, I wouldn't pay more than $5 for it, and only if it would download very fast and I could keep it forever. I'd 'rent' it for $3, so long as I could delete it when I felt like it.

Everyone gets a new computer what? Every 2 years {on average} 5 at the most?

What happens to all the information that the average person has on their computer if all of their movies are on their hard drive?

I'm not talking about folks on here who likely have Terabite HD add-ons but the regular folks who barely know how to use e-mail.
