24 hz question - Blu-ray Forum

Ok, now this is a bit new and confusing to me. My brother just got a new Samsung LCD46 inch. I came over to make sure he had correct settings and i decided to try to see if it would accept the ps3's 24hz setting, which it did. i put in saw 4 i think it was, and the tv displayed at 24 hz when pressing the info button. Now, it looked great, but ive tried to read about this setting and some people say not to set it to this. Anyone fill me in on whats correct to run?

Ok, well then why do people have issues with this setting? At least so i can understand more and take another look at it..

im guessing he has a 61,65 or 66.

These HDTVs will accept a 24hz signal, but will run a 3:2 pulldown still and flash a 60hz image on the screen. There is still the uneven judder in these HDTVs. Look at the credits are the end of a movie and you will see.

The question is, what does a better job of running a 3:2 pulldown, the HDTV or the PS3.

I find the PS3 does a better job.

I did a lot of research regarding this subject, as I have a 65. The 65 does an amazing job with the 3:2 pulldown, and its the closest Ive ever seen to true 24hz, plus it doesn't have the flickering that some of the 24hz HDTVs have.

Yea, ive heard about jutter and such, when checking it out last night, i didnt notice really anything but i'll take a better look.

like i said the 6 series does an awesome job. i had to be withing 2 feet to notice it and you can only notice it in certain parts of the film like panning shots.
