Default Magnavox NB500MG9 Questions

Hey guys,

I have a couple of questions about the Magnavox NB500MG9:

1. Does anybody know if it bitstreams DTS-HD MA audio?

2. If I get this player, do you think it will receive firmware updates as they are needed or will Magnavox stop updating it?

3. Will this player last for a while or am I better off getting something like the Panasonic BD-35K (which I want) knowing that it will last?

I ask all of this because like many, I'm considering buying it on Black Friday at Wal-Mart.

Thanks for all your help guys,
CJS234

So many people don't like Magnavox, I doubt anyone here knows about it. Have you checked what it says on Amazon? The only thing I know for sure is that Consumer Reports loved the player, and this was at a comparable price point to the Sony/Samsung players. It actually ranked right behind a $1000 Denon player, if you can believe that. I'm of the family that Magnavox has gotten such a reputation for being cheap on their products that I wouldn't buy it, but it DOES get that really nice review, plus can't beat a blu-ray player for under $200 (can purchase regularly as SAM'S Club for $180.)
