Default PS3 component issues

So heres the story my HDTV blew so i had to switch to an older 42" non HD, so i went to bestbuy and bought the sony component cables and hooked it all up and it seems that the reds are not that bright and everything has a yellow hue can anyone help me out with this thanks in advance

Yeah I can help with that. If you did not mis-type anything in your post above I'd say you're using the wrong cables. Component cables are only used for hi-def. If you're using a non-high def TV then you would need composite cables (just Red, White, Yellow).

component cables should be fine on a standard def tv. ive used them no issues so long as you select 480i only. i would check to see if the cables are not in the correct input such as mixing up the green and blu one.

edit: doubled checked and yes it works fine. make sure you uncheck everything and your left with 480i. cannot uncheck it anyway. it works and if i remember correctly, before i got my hdtv, it will give a better picture than composite and s-video
