Default Pictures of War (Not Dial Up Friendly)

I have thousands of photos taken during war, and war time.
I thought I would share them with you all.

Please share any photos you may have as well.

I have a couple guidelines I would like to put down.

1. Please NO politics.
2. No gore. I would like for this thread to stay open, so let's not contaminate it.

I take no credit for any of the photos that I post in this thread.

I love this pic. This look like Cloverfield or The Day After Tomorrow.

^In my folder there is another pic of this guy. I'll post it in another batch when I find it. I know you all have heard the story of this guy on the history channel.

^Going out on patrol. Returning from patrol.

^Nuclear Blast Shadows (I believe that is the term)

WOW! This photo collection is incredible and deeply moving!

Thank you for taking the time to post them. It's a rare opportunity to get unadulterated glimpses of war like this.

Hahaha. When the page was loading it shot over your image, and I thought "why did someone post a coach?".
That's really good.

Bless all of those guys and girls serving in the armed forces.

Hopefully they get to come home soon.

Do you have an explanation as to why these doctors were shirtless?

It just caught me as being odd...

I don't. I'll go back and try and find out why.
I believe this "hospital" was in the pacific during WWII.

Wow, some very stirring images, good stuff. I spent much of my youth in (West) Germany, saw a lot of war torn city & town rubble and toured some extermination/death camps (like Auschwitz) and concentration camps (like Dachau). A very disturbing subject but necessary learning.

I'm gonna guess that conditions were ridiculously hot and humid combined with the condition of the supply of proper sterile garments had long since been depleted. While it was not ideal to do surgery in the bare, it was still incrementally better than reusing well-soiled/stained garments, further sweating in that, and creating an even more ideal bacterial environment.
