Default Denon Blu-ray 3800BDCI - artifacts /ghosting quality :(

Hi - we have a mitsubishi 1080p dlp., denon 3800bdci we just got with a denon avr-4308ci receiver. we just got the blu-ray player. replacing the tempoary pioneer elite. Our tv looks amazing on hd cable, dvd's/ blu-ray on the pioneer. the denon - it has so many artifacts/ghosting/solarization - it's awful - it got worse as movies played. it looks this way in standard dv too.
we tried different hdmi cables/inputs/ even direct to televison by-passing the receiver. we turned down contrast and/or brightness in the tv but still the quality is 'bad'. Any help? input? we're sending back otherwise. please respond directly since it's time sensitive for the return
pugvette@charter.net thank you

It's either a bad player or bad setup and, since you're in a hurry, it would appear we don't have time for the back and forth needed to make a determination. I can only say that the owners here (including I) and the several owners on other fora find the PQ to be superb on this player.

Sounds like a defective player that needs to be returned. If other players connect fine to your display then it has to be the Denon or the cabling.

There are so many other simple issues at stake, as well.

Color settings (component vs. RGB)
IRE at 0 or +7.5

What you describe is not a well known issue with this player. The owner's forum at AVS forums is very informative.

Default Denon 3800BDCI / 4308CI no problems

I'm running a similar setup with a 3800BDCI connected to a 4308CI. TV is a Panasonic 50PZ750U. Have had no problems with image quality on BD discs. Advanced AL 24 processing light is activated and connections are all HDMI. Picture and sound quality are out of this world.

Welcome to the forum!

Pugvette never came back and this thread is moribund. There's a 3800 owners thread in this forum, though it's fairly dull as there are only a few of us and we're too busy enjoying our players to post about them.
