WHat have any of you noticed about when prices drop on LCD's ...typically what time of year...and how long after a new model is introduced will the older models then get less expensive than when they came out?
I'm not in a big hurry to buy. Looking at the 37 inchers of Sony, Panasonic, or Samsung. |

Super bowl time of year is the biggest sales time for TV's & with that LOTS of sales to get ride of them.
For when new tv are released, it depend on the company but most will release there low end tv's in spring & then there high end line in summer or fall. Plus they don't release very thing at one time. Like Sony is releasing there new XBR's line over about 3 month time frame. |

what I've noticed is that prices on old models generally decline as soon as a store is notified they will be getting the new models within a few weeks... they try to clear out the stock and display spaces for the new models, but if there are any left after a month or two of a new model being out, chances are they'll let it go at very little markup

2 times of year that I would recommend check prices as frequently as possible, which is what I did.
Memorial Day (start checking toward end of April, since most of BB/CC/Amazon.com have price protection for 30 days). I got my first HDTV (Westinghouse 26" last year for $499!!, and it was a 2 day weekend sale. Price went back up to $649 for the next 2 or 3 months as I recall) Thanksgiving!! Enough said there. Start checking around end of October and if you see a good price, buy it! and continue checking for 30 days, I am sure you wont regret. PS. I got my 52" around superbowl time, and I got a superb deal that I am still giggling right now.. (a good $1000+ discount for a brand new XBR4 ) ![]() |
