Default Panasonic DMP-BD35 [PAL] + Madagascar 2 = 'Copyright Violation'

Just put a rental copy in and it keeps saying 'Copyright Violation'. I've unplugged the cables, updated the firmware, rebooted, tried other discs, it's just this particular disc - it won't play. Any ideas?

Thanks

If you look at the BD35 Thread, you will see this Player has a lot of problems. Are you up to Firmware 2.0? Then the "Mickey Mouse People" say to pull the Data Cable, no SD Card, and Disable BD Live. These guys say this will make the Player work. A bunch of Crock!

Can you stop invading this player and if you have a couple of issues with your player doesn't mean others will do and if everytime anyone post some issues facing his player doesnt mean necessary what you are facing. If this title Haunting in the... is not working inside your player ,Probably you should contact your panasonic support to find a solution rather throwing some crappy words here and there.

It just says COPYRIGHT VIOLATION all over the screen when it tries to load the disc. All other discs are fine. Is it possible that the DVD rental company gave me a disc with the wrong region on it?

Thanks

So far as i know this is Paramount release and should be coded region free.Mine is region free. You can notice on the case if it is region coded but i'm hundred percent sure Paramount releases whether it is in US or Europe and Other Countries their releases are coded free. When i bought mine do have a single disc featuring the movies and extras.Your copy is the same or you have Two discs. If it is a rental disc my advice is to try another copy.As others said try it nothing to loose. If it is connected to internet just prohibit it and if there anything in the SD slot just remove it.Plug out your player from the electricity and plug it again. As far the copyright Violation screen never happened with me before and hopefully some expertise users or some insider's can give us what doesn't mean

It might help to know what country you're in, what format player you have (PAL or NTSC) and what format/region disc you are trying to play.

I see that in the title, you have a PAL panny bd-35. Is that correct?

Yeah, in the UK. It's a rental disc from lovefilm.com but has no region symbol printed on the disc label - it does have a BBFC rating implying it is for use in Britain. I'm requesting a replacement copy right now. Thanks for your help!

Oh, and I tried unplugging the network cable and the SD card - didn't work

Sorry to Dish the Player, but I don't like sitting down to watch a movie and not being able. I guess it's not totally the Manufacturers fault, but I have gone back to them and they do come back with Firmware upgrades. I still have the BD35, but I'll looking real hard at the Oppo. Since doing the "Mickey Mouse Workaround," it has worked better no failures since "Haunting." I kind of blame more the Motion Picture and Blu-ray people, for putting so much DRM Junk. Let see if things get better.

I have the BD35 and don't have any problems with it. No need to come into every BD35 thread and crap on it. There are problems with every BD player. It's not just isolated to Panasonic products. Even the PS3 ocassionally has a problem with BD's.

I had a similiar problem with my BD30 trying to watch Tropic Thunder on Blu-ray rented from Netflix. It kept saying Copyright Violation over and over. After a few more tries, it worked, but the disc itself was incredibly messed up. No scratches were present but it skipped, froze up, pixelated, and was unwatchable. When I thought about it, I wasn't sure if it was a bad disc, or if my Blu-ray player was "thinking" it was a burned disc of some kind, when it wasn't, because of the Copyright Violation error messages at the beginning.
And I have the latest firmware on my unit as well.

I am probably going to get the newest player Panasonic releases sometime this Fall, I heard October/November will see a series of new players from them.

Finally congratulation for you,by Coincidence i was exploring panasonic site, and to my surprise there was a warning message in the support center,If you face Copyright Violation most probably because of some rental movies are dirty ,All you have to do is to take the disk out and clean it then put it in the blu-ray player it should work. You have changed it and its better. So problem solved and you are welcome.

Default Anyone who is facing Copyright Violation or Protection

What should I do if my BD Player is displaying “Copyright protection” message when playing a rented movie?

You should clean the disc, because it may be dirty, has fingerprints, or smudges on the playback side of the BD disc, which normally occurs with rental videos.

Thanks for the suggestion folks. I fixed my issue

1. I had an old firmware version. I used my Windows PC ( not MAC as it wasn't working for me) installed, extracted the latest version 2.2 off of the Panasonic website

http://panasonic.jp/support/global/c...ica/index.html

2. I burnt the disk and then followed the instructions in updating my blue ray

3. It appeared to work, so I tried the move Inventions of Lying again, and same error - Copyright violation

4. I tried turning it off, then turning it on again, no luck

5. I then cleaned what already looked like a clean disk .. off, then put the BRay back in and IT WORKED!

So not sure which part worked exactly, but all in all, it worked.this is the first one that I've had issues with...
