The update went fine with both of mine (done over wireless). The only weird thing was that it went really quickly at first, then sat there a while (progressed really, really slowly) and finally finished pretty quickly.

Dang...I would get to 40 or 50 % and then, ERROR. 2.41 was perfect.

A lot of people have mentioned this. Not sure why some folks are having issues - mine worked like owa's. Very, very slow (20 minutes later - 5 percent done! ) 15 minutes after that, I noticed my PS3 XMB was up, guess it got done real quick when I wasn't looking.

Considering you have to redownload the Entire Firmware package compared to a patch, I've just been downloading it online and installing via USB.

From Start to Finish it takes me 10 minutes to Download and Install.

OP, I assume you are talking about the download time erroring out? I also download via PC to avoid this problem.

I upgraded to 2.42 last night and it's been the fastest firmware upgrade i've had so far. Took about 2 mins for the full download and install and i've had no problems so far. I did the upgrade through wireless.

U can connect your PS3 via ethernet cable or u can download the firmware from PS site and save to a usb flash drive. When u go to upgrade the firmware it ask how u want to upgrade and u select USB drive or internet.

when the firmware became available. they got alot of traffic, that's why it either went slow, you got cutoff during download or you coulden't download it to begin with. if you kept trying, you would eventually get the download, or else you would have to wait a few hours or the next day to get the download faster then it was.

Someone else here said the same thing and it is often true that too much traffic on a server does slow it down. I myself had issues(took like an hour to download upto 18%) but thankfully someone one this forum linked a downloadable link for the 2.42 firmware.
