Unhappy Indiana Jones 5: Someone please beat George with a stick and give Steven his way!!!!

Here's the latest on the next chapter for Indiana Jones. Sounds like Spielberg has the right frame of mind, while Lucas wants Jones to fight martians on Mars.

"We were hoping for box-office figures like that, which is, ultimately, with inflation, what the others have done, within 10%," Lucas explains. "So, we squeaked up there. Really, though, it was a challenge getting the story together and getting everybody to agree on it. Indiana Jones only becomes complicated when you have another two people saying 'I want it this way' and 'I want it that way', whereas, when I first did Jones, I just said, 'We'll do it this way' — and that was much easier. But now I have to accommodate everybody, because they are all big, successful guys, too, so it's a little hard on a practical level.

"If I can come up with another idea that they like, we'll do another. Really, with the last one, Steven wasn't that enthusiastic. I was trying to persuade him. But now Steve is more amenable to doing another one. Yet we still have the issues about the direction we'd like to take. I'm in the future; Steven's in the past. He's trying to drag it back to the way they were, I'm trying to push it to a whole different place. So, still we have a sort of tension. This recent one came out of that. It's kind of a hybrid of our own two ideas, so we'll see where we are able to take the next one."

I think George should try Steven's way on the next film.

Steven definately has the right idea, which he did for Crystal Skull as well but was overruled many times. I'm a huge Star Wars fanboy but I just can' t keep taking up for ol' George on many of his recent ideas. I thought he would have gotten the Indiana Jones/aliens outta his system with Crystal Skull but I guess the comprise wasn't good enough and he still wants the all out alien war battle.

I think they should let Dr. Jones retire in peace.

Let's see, Lucas has singlehandedly ruined the Star Wars franchise with weak movies and this last Indiana Jones movie got scathing press. Spielberg, on the other hand has 2 Oscars, more hits than misses and wants to take Indy in a different direction. I think Lucas should yield.

The Star Wars franchise is far from ruined....Considering the box office every
single movie has done, even episode I....Not to mention how many
blu rays they'll sell when they come out

i wouldn't go so far to say Star Wars is ruined, but its not the same.

george hasn't come up with a good movie in years, it might be time to retire.

I am looking forward to The Clone Wars though.

I'm sure the most recent Indy will too. I'd just like to see what Spielberg can do with Indy if he does it his way.

Another Indiana Jones, huh? Except this will take place outer space?

If I were George Lucas, I would name it: Indiana Jones and the Klingons near Uranus.

Steven gave George some lee-way on the last one and it consistently disappointed the majority of people that saw it. If Paramount has any brains, they will tell Lucas to back off and just handle the money! Let Steven be in complete control of the art. Lucas hasn't created anything that great since 'Star Wars'

I suspected all along that Indy 4 was horrible largely because of Lucas and it seems I was right. There is no way Speilberg would have put out a total piece of garbage like that on his own; only Lucas would.

George obviously ruined the story/script. But I hold Spielberg responsible for the whole LeBouf mess -- by mess, I mean him actually having a career and being in every damn Dreamworks movie over the last two years. So, really, nobody is innocent as far as Indy 4 goes.

They need to do another so they can redeem themselves. Indy deserves to go out the way he came in.

I am seriously hoping that if they do another one, that it has to do with actual historical artifacts that are known worldwide and has a semi decent plot to it.

And another thing, I want the next Indy movie to have actual stunts and less computer generated stunts like some of the crap Indy 4 brought out. That is one of the big reasons that I liked the original Indy series. Everything they did were actual stunts.

I'm all for another one . . . as bad as Crystal Skull was in comparison to the others, I'd still line up at midnight for a fifth, hoping to see what the fourth should have been.

everyone brings up the cgi in the new indiana jones movie, but there really wasn't that much cgi. a lot of it was real stunts.

who said anything about the 5th one taking place in outer space? You guys are being dumb about the whole thing, the 5th one could redeem KOTCS (doubtful), but a possibility.

Lucas ruined the Indiana Jones franchise... I would have loved to see what Frank Darabont could have done with it...

“It was a tremendous disappointment and a waste of a year. It showed me how badly things can go. I spent a year of very determined effort on something I was very excited about, working very closely with Steven Spielberg and coming up with a result that I and he felt was terrific. He wanted to direct it as his next movie, and then suddenly the whole thing goes down in flames because George Lucas doesn’t like the script.” - Frank Darabont
