Default Afrika out on 8/28/08 in Japan

But not coming in the foreseeable future to either Europe or Japan it seems...

Is there any way to order the game in Japan, and would it run on a US PS3 (or a European one for that matter)?

All PS3 games are region free. Import away if you must.

yes all PS3 games are region free.

The game is coming out outside of Japan and its name is Hakuna Matata (im not joking, swear). However, it will be coming out later than the Japanese release.

Those graphics look amazing, seriously some of the best ive ever seen.

I'm getting it. Looks great. The word is this won't be released in the US or Europe, because those gamers won't appreciate it.

I disagree, I think Sony can see that there is enough intrest in this game to justify releasing the game outside of Japan.

Plus, why rename the game for an outside of Japan release, if you aren't going to launch in the West?

Where the hell are you gonna launch this thing other than the US/Europe? Zimbabwe!

Or follow Siren's lead and release it as a download on the PSN Store for the non-Japanese markets if they don't want to take the risk. Wasn't that the whole point of them releasing Siren that way?

The rename was for the Asian release, which is common over there to have separate "Japan" and "Asia" releases.

There's another thread here where Sony Europe said it's not coming to Europe, and chances are it won't be coming to the US as well. Let's face it, the majority of PS3 gamers here won't want a safari simulator where you take pics of animals. They would rather run them over with the Jeep or shoot them.

I see this as a more likely release option in the US. No expenses for pressing the discs of a game that won't be a hot seller.

This is a game I've been waiting for since before the PS3 was released. I'll buy the Japanese import if it isn't going to be released here.

This may be a dumb question, but what are the odds the Japanese (or Asian) version has an option for English?

Europe is going to be a tough call for this game (Afrika, Hakuna Matata, whatever you want to call it) because of language localization issues.

North America should be relatively easy though. Releasing in the US/Canada takes care of "some" EU since they can basically import games for about the same price.

I find the title strange, but familiar. After all everyone knows what it is, ever since The Lion King popularized the term in a song.

I would probably get it. I dont know though. Ill have to see some in game footage. the backgrounds and scenery look great but to be honest the animals look clunky (thats the only word i could think of).

And imagine what kind of "multiplayer" action they'd want on top of that!

There's a possibility. I've imported many Japanese games that had at least some English to help you out.
