Default Sony KDL-40v4100 a new model?

I noticed sears has a different sony model up of the V series than i have seen before. They do not have a S or W version of it but do offer a V. Is this the new model of the v3000?

I doubt it's 120 hz but that'd be awesome if it were.

What's up with that silver looking bar across the bottom frame? Is that where the buttons are and is it touch panel like some samsungs tv's/PS3's?

i did some searching on google and found a list of april releases from sony for their 08 models on the AVS forums.

"April releases: KDL32L4000, KDL37L4000, KDL26M4000, KDL32M4000, KDL32N4000, KDL37N4000, KDL40V4100. May: 19M4000 (B&S), 40&46S4100, 40V4150, 46W4150, 40,46,52W4100."

apparently the W4100 will have 120hz.

Really? From what I found it didn't.

Even if not, an awesome price on that TV! I would pick it up over the v3000, which is more expensive.

The W Series does have 120Hz Motionflow. I have some literature I received at a Sony Zone show last month that shows it.

Yeah, the W series does. The OP was asking about the V series though.

I noticed that Sony removed motionflow from their new 32" and 37" XBR6 models as well. Even though they're called XBRs, those sets seem to have the same specs like the V series the OP is talking about. Kinda confusing.

Losing motionflow is a bummer, but I still want a 32" XBR6 for my room though.

I was in the market for a second HDTV for the bedroom and I just ordered one of these from Amazon for $1269.00 I checked it out in Best Buy and thought it looked better than any of the TV's around it.

If any of you guys had one for a few months now and could share your experiences with it, I'd appreciate it. It's not too late to cancel the order if need be.

Yeah, I've been reading about the Sparkle problem... is it across the board or are they isolated cases? I read those Amazon reviews and there was one mentioning the sparkle problem, but about 15 from people who absolutely loved the set. I stood in front of it at Best Buy for about 20 minutes today and was really impressed with it, and I didn't see any problems with the one they were showing.

I would say the problem is almost across the board. Now most people don't notice it untill someone points it out. And some sets have more sparkles then others, it's most noticeable during dark scenes. Oviously since the sparkles are white and flash randomly on the uper half of the screen. Not only did i notice it on my set and it anoyed me but i notice it on a 40W4100 in the store and a 46V4100 aswell. There have been a few reports of people with the 32XBR6 that also have this problem, so pretty much all new models except the XBR5.

If i were in your shoes i would go with something else, but that's me. I mean the last thing you want to go thru is to receive the tv, find out the sparkles annoy you and have to send it back to amazon and wait till they receive it issue you credit etc.

If you want a good 40" lcd i would suggest a sony XBR4 or XBR5. Also look at
Samsung 650/750 models, they have the 120hz on them and support 24p.

Also check out these Plasma's
Panasonic Viera TH42PZ85U
Panasonic Viera TH-42PZ800U <-supports 24p for Movies.

i played with all these models in the store for over an hour, my budget was $1400 and i don't like 120hz just my opinion. So i went with the 550 samsung, but if i had the extra cash i would of bought an XBR4. The Panny plasma's looked good but the lcd works better in my bright room.
