I love this movie, Depending on the review of the transfers will depend if I get it or not. I cancelled all my preorders on all my movies. I'm not going to be a test rat anymore.

I so want this title. Will have to settle for reg dts as my bd player will not decode the dts master. The reviews are excellent so its a no brainer, its mine on release date.

AWESOME BD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This release was amazing. If this is what we have to expect from Universal: BRING IT ON!!
PQ- Very dark, lots of greens and low lighting but everything was so crisp. One of the reveiws claimed there were some muttled shots when it would cut to the water. I never noticed that. My screen is 115" and there was no grain. This is easily a demo disc to add into the collection. This release would be compared to Narnia easily. 4.5

AQ- DEMO DISC. Enough said. Sound come from evereywhere. Creeks and little movements. I actually thought one of the noises came from outside. That never happens. The silence of listening for the depth charges and then explosions all around the room are enough to buy the movie alone. Listen for the torpedo scraping the sub, Very, very cool. 5.0

Didnt watch speacial features. Total Review Score: 4.5

My projector doesnt produce great screen shots during the day. I will try to get some on tonight.

Rent or Buy? Buy it . Definate Demo Material.

This is your faithful answer to your question from DVDFILE.com

http://www.dvdfile.com/review/u-571-bd-12624

"The Video: How Does The Disc Look?

The film’s theatrical aspect ratio of 2.35:1 is presented in an excellent high definition transfer. Highly detailed, with a level of subtle textures that is outstanding, this disc almost has that illusive illusion of depth. Color accuracy seems exceptional, with very natural flesh tones that reveal variations within individual faces and clear differences among various actors. The print seems pristine, so perhaps the absence of visual flaws related to the original elements also helps prevent any kind of distraction. Black levels flirt with the absolute bottom of the video dynamic range. Contrast is excellent with no crush on either end. Primary colors are particularly vivid without seeming too hot. When you factor in the superior audio track, this becomes a great demo disc. On the downside, Universal has once again imposed what appears to be a tad of edge enhancement that leaves residual, modest halos visible that must be watched for to spot. Based on skin textures, I suspect that noise reduction had been applied, and a little sharpening came into play.

The Audio: How Does the Disc Sound?

The DTS-HD 5.1 track is exceptionally aggressive. The surrounds completely envelop the viewer, with discrete sounds and appropriate pans. You’re placed inside the submarines. Enable EX decoding for a more satisfying experience. War films consistently provide sound mixers with the opportunity to ramp up the sound effects. Storms, gunfire, explosions, depth charges, cannon fire… all are reproduced with an immersive sense of space, great dynamic range and attack times, and a broad frequency response. You’ll need a superior subwoofer to fully appreciate the bombastic bottom end; depth charges are particularly impressive. Richard Marvin’s score is conveyed with warmth and clarity. But, once again, I was impressed with sounds on the lower end of the dynamic range; they are more transparent than I recall from the HD DVD. Despite all the sonic fireworks, the dialog is reproduced very cleanly."
