I'm beginning to think that audio is the most important aspect to me. I normally think picture quality first but then I started thinking about a lot of my favorite movies and in almost all of them, I care about the audio more. So yeah, I'm really pleased with lossless audio especially on newer titles. I added the "especially on newer titles" because I just finished watching the The Fog (import) with DTS-HD MA. While I'm happy it has lossless, there just isn't the same depth, fullness, and clarity with a lot of the older soundtracks. Probably better than listening to it in mono (although I don't recall having compared that, with any of the older movies, to see if I prefer the original mono or not).

You can't put a disc in a blue case and call it Blu-ray. Blu-ray = high bitrate video (BD 50) plus lossless audio...or at least it should be before calling something Blu-ray.
IMO, lossless audio is as important to the high def experience as the high quality picture. I hope that Warner realizes soon the mistakes they are making by excluding lossless audio with many of their titles. It's pure criminal. |

I'll be triple-dipping on the upcoming BD of 'U-571' which has DTS-HD MA, to replace my SDDVD & HDDVD copies, which only have a (still impressive) DTS track. The lossless HD track on BD is apparently a lot more robust & leaves the HDDVD in the dust.

It just makes perfect sense to have such High Bitrates the sound is so pure and crisp - Golden ompass, Saw IV and Die Hard 4.0 just sound amazing, by the sounds of it New Line, like FOX and now UNIVERSAL are using DTS HD MA as a standard, and its about damn time!!!!
When DTS first appeard on DVD it was awesome to hear that slightly higher bitrate, but now it just blows me away. Also if you've got Close Encounters - there are some parts of that movie that i thought were gonna rip my sub-woofer to peices!!!!!! I thing the industry standard on all future releases should be DTS HD MA on a 50GB Blu, but we all know that ain't gonna be the way, which is a shame. I say that because not alot of people out there Undrstand surround sound and its benefits. Most people know with an HDTV don't even have any HD source to use on it, let alone a receiver that decodes the new HR audio's. I just hope that one day this will change as i beeive that sound is JUST AS important as the picture. |

To me audio has been the most important part of a movie for me. I find it puts you more into the middle of the action than having a huge screen. I only have a 34" Toshiba

I think there is a lot of superstition about the formats.
DTS Master Audio, Dolby True HD, LPCM: all is the same: lossless formats. The only question is the bitrate. More bitrate = more quality, other thing is if you are capable to appreciate the difference. Sometimes I have serious difficulties on that, and sometimes I do appreciate nothing. |

I'm just happy to have 5.1! I think it is amazing. I can't even imagine Blu Ray being better? I know what your thinking how long has 5.1 been out but I've been stuck in 2 channel stereo for like 20+ yrs. One of the newer Star Wars movies sounds fantastic with my new receiver. I'll have to try the Live Free Die Hard and see what that sounds like. I think a good picture is important but the sound by far makes the movie.

I just watched the doors last night. Oh shit dts-ma 7.1 it sounded so good. Sound enveloping the living room. Some movies don't have a lot going on in the back this did. My favorites, die hard 4, hitman, 3:10-yuma, rambo 4, most lionsgate flicks rock.
Top gun was realy cool 6.1 dts-ma. Lossless surround sound just rocks. |
